HIKI ORDER

Hiki has got back to me :)

Basically i have to place the order then they will work out a discount depending on how much and what we order , it could be anything from 10% to 25% , (so bit vague lol) now i am also happy to add anyones order to mine and the kit we are ordering...

but...

As soon as i need to pay and I get a figure, I need that cash gifted to me by paypal , no erm i can pay you next week or over the next ten years etc

i am not responsable for hiki sizes etc

i will try to cover as much of the postage as i can regarding what we would have ordered myself , so may make it a little cheaper to get to the uk (but you will still have to pay some ) , but you will need to cover postage to you from me yourselves , pick up or pick up at a game before if we at it

Import - again if we get hit , then i will try to pay my fair share and above but everyone will still take a hit so please be aware of this

think all of that is common sense and to be expected but thought best put it out there :) it goes without saying we wont be making anything on anyones order

now with the april game etc coming up if anyone wants to place a order then please list here

thinking of placing the order around the 14th of feb so can be a present from yourself to yourself if that helps ;)

BELT ORDER

still waiting for them to get back to me regarding a larger buy in the belt set up, i dont expect much of a discount as they are really cheap anyway , but i guess if you dont ask you dont get , i had one the lighter ones come through this week and its pretty good not far off the quailty of my hiki stuff - space wise the pouches hold 3 garand mags ok on the front pouches and can fit 4 back up ones in the back and the belt can go around me just lol they fit they say upto a 42 so i need to lose some belly :) but at £31 ish they are great value

i will take some photos and add them below :)

You know dam straight I'm going to order stuff. I actually already ordered my belt and pouches from SoF as they were on sale (and therefore the same price as hiki). So basically I just want the uniform, helmet, puttees, insignia, canteen and breadbag.

Though I'm debating going for the type 98 uniform over the tropical one now.

Ralph

Same as Ralph, I grabbed a cheap webbing set a while back. Maybe we can get some consensus as a group what uniforms we should invest in to make our appearance more...uh... uniform :) . I'' get list of what I'd want and make sure I have cash for it + postage set to one side.

Pros and cons I can see from a quick search:

Type 98
- Used throughout the war
- Seen in both the Pacific and Indo-china

Tropical
-Classic Japanese WW2 appearance
-Sweet breezy cotton

I've fired a bullet on every continent. Nearly hit someone, too.

well i have the tropical top and bottoms and they are nice , but not very thick but in the summer that will be a blessing , not so sure with the spring , though they do a rain coat as well lol that i may purchase just in case

Good idea about deciding on a group uniform. I'm happy to go with the group consensus but I just thought the type 98 might be a tad warmer as April can be random when it comes to weather.

I'm sorely tempted to go the whole hog and get backpack, shovel and rain coat.

Ralph

or get 98 for now and if you fancy it tropical shirt or top and bottoms later on as they a cheap set if you get the 3/4 top :)

think my squad will be mainly tropical as we all have it lol , but i sense thermals or some other option for april :)

Yeah I think I'll go for the t98. Also I've found a seller on eBay that has some repro spades with covers in stock so have ordered one. That means I'll be adding a back pack and raincoat to my order too.

Ralph

I bought a wool cap on e-bay. Now you have me tempted to buy a uniform....tropical is a bit cheaper.

I have also ordered a cap off eBay, and I'm going to bodge up a tropical uniform from my existing Russian and British stuff. I can't imagine Japanese is ever going to be a main impression for me, so that will have to do.

I was peering at some diagrams of Japanese equipment yesterday, am I right in thinking they had a belt slung breading as well as the bag on a shoulder strap? It is just the belt bag doesn't seem to feature much in photos.

Cheers
Martin

I'm not an expert on Japanese field gear but I can't seem to fund any belt slung bread bags. I've found quite a few pictures where soldiers seem to have either the canteen slung over the same shoulder as the breadbag or simply wearing one or the other.

When are we looking to make this order?

Regards,

Ralph

I was looking at some repro ones and they have a belt hook as well as the shoulder strap, I think in the diagram I was looking at (in Andrew Mollos 'WW2 Amy Uniforms') the strap wasn't obvious and the full kit also included a gas mask bag (happily like the Russian bags).

Anyway, for those of us who like to carry far too much around, plenty of bag wearing opportunities.

Cheers
Martin

Right you are, Martin. It's tempting to go the whole hog and wear everything.

My belt order from SoF arrived today. Very nice leather and surprisingly roomy. I have a rubber arisaka bayonet on order so I won't be taking the repro one out with me.-- attachment is not available --

I got it from world war wonders, it was listed as a prop bayonet used in The Pacific buuuuut it's pretty crap to be honest. It's too thick to fit in the scabbard, it is rubber but it's not flexible in the slightest and it's got a very dodgy paint job.

Real shame as I wanted to use it for banzai charges.

Ralph
