I've just received one of the cheap IJA caps off ebay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WWII-WW2-Japa ... Sw6BtVShS- The quality is not great, and its not wool, more of an HBT type material, so I wouldn't bother with this if you're putting a serious Japanese impression together, but as a make do look a like, for the price its fine, quick delivery too, only took 10 days.

I'd send it back or demand the 'correct' one be sent, as the one in the photo is definatly 'wool' looking, and nothing like a twill material.

have you got a photo , as i ordered one but wheni did it had told me i ordered one in the past and having fished it out , it looks like the 1 in the photo ?

I wanted to place an order with HIKI soon but rather Russian gear. Might add a Japanese cap and belt with pouches to it...just in case.

I'd be up for grabbing some IJA kit from HIKI if we're to put a group order together.

I've fired a bullet on every continent. Nearly hit someone, too.

You know it makes sense, Lutz. Don't want to miss out on the IJA action.

So that's 4 of us to order together. Not entirely sure what to get yet but I might get the type 98 uniform.

Regards,

Ralph

If the postage wasn't as much as I paid I would!, but I have messaged the seller, and awaiting an answer.

Going by the Red Sun Rising reenactment group kit guide I've made a little shopping list for myself. I think it'll do nicely for airsoft use. The bread bag looks pretty big so should be able to fit in lunch, bb's and gas OK.

So far on my list of things to buy I have:
Tropical uniform set
Helmet with net
Wool puttees
EM insignia set
Type 99 pouch and belt set
Bread bag and canteen set
Wool field cap

Total so far is $338. Don't want to spend much more to be honest.

EDIT: Now I'm looking up the Special Naval Landing Forces uniform. Would be easy to swap between the IJA and SNLF, it just a different coloured uniform and different badge on the helmet.

I'm wondering what weapons everyone will be using? I know the Japanese used a lot of captured weapons (even starting to produce a copy of the Garand) so we could get away with a few American weapons.

Regards,

Ralph

I'd be up for a cap if we are doing a group order. Size 58.

Otherwise I'm going to bodge up a looks like tropical uniform as per mikoyans guide. I'll use my Russian belt and pouches.

Cheers
Martin

I've got a tasty refund through PayPal so I have the money to get my jap kit. Obviously I'll hold off till we make our group order if we get that discount.

I have some Russian kit I can lend out; knee length puttees (not wool but they'll look the part), leather belt, mosin pouch, 36" waist trousers and British respirator bag.

Also I know we can't use it in the game itself (Boo!) but I can bring my Iaito (blunted training katana) for the hell of it. Looks slightly different to an officers sword but could be fun for photos etc.

Ralph

Just received my second cap order. Very nice. Made of wool with faux silk liner. Much nicer than the HBT one, though no flaps.

I had a similar problem with my Russian hiki order. I emailed them several times and eventually got a tracking number out if them, turns out the package had stayed in the same place in India for a week.

My eBay hat with flaps turned up this week. I once had a HIKI order sit in a customs shed in Coventry for six weeks, which was a bit annoying.

Thanks Chris, that is very generous of you. So I've got a hat and now pouches. Banzai!

The only slight drag with my hat is the horrible split pins holding the chin strap on which will dig into my head if I wear it under my helmet. A spot of sewing coming up this weekend I think.

Cheers
Martin
