Just a quickie, what do 'Le Clerc' infantry look like. Kit, weapons etc?
Possibly showing my ignorance here but genuinely interested.
'shokt

More or less as Kroot says.

We have a couple of people who refuse point blank to play Yanks on principle, so this is the compromise we came up with.

Le Clercs armoured division was one of the 11 or so divisions the Americans promised to equip entirely.
So a mostly classic G.I. Joe (Or is that G.I. Jaques?). It was formed around Le Clercs 2nd brigade which was a British equipt unit in North Africa. It was formed up and taken back to the UK for refitting by the Americans for use in Overlord and attached to the US 90th corp. A Colonial regiment was added, its 9th company marched under the flag of the Spanish Republic (being almost all Spanish refugees, and the first allied unit into Paris as De Gaul wanted a unit that wasn't obviously composed of Africans or Arabs to be the first in and it was the best they could find :slap: ) it's anti tank units and some infantry being previously Marines/Sailors and so keeping that regalia.

Most men kept their old french pattern caps, where possible helmets so the enemy KNEW they were fighting Frenchman (we are all going for Adrians and the 1935 model motor troops helmets), Insignia was mounted on the collar tabs in the French style.

I found some images here
Tankers

Marine infantry (also provided the anti-tank units)

These reenactors might give you an idea (though to be honest, the look is more a re-enactorism than purely historical)
http://www.angelfire.com/wa2/FJ6/FrenchPhoto.html

But in reality, there will be mainly Adrians, M43 style jackets and other US kit with a few Brit items covering the gaps. Scarves encouraged, Gauloises hanging from lower lip purely optional!

To the tune of "Mademoiselle from Armentières"

Napoleons army ran away, As you do
The guard stood firm for Frances Pride, As you do
They said the guard will stand and die
But we heard what their Colonel cried
It wasn't pretty I tell you.

Resistance is fertile

350fps and lower with no minimum engagement limit, up to 500fps with 20 meter minimum engagement.

Anyone coming to this event with experience of Tanaka K98's?
This one I've got is driving me up the wall. It's been through a few owners and has come back to me in a bit of a sorry state. It had the BGS hop fitted but that was punched right through from over tightening. I've had it all apart, it has the extended nozzle. The blue rubber was in tatters and the plunger from the hop arm was broken. I've tried for a temporary fix turning the hop rubber round so that a complete piece covers the hole in the barrel and replaced the plunger with a bit of the inside of a bic pen. This all looked to be working fine until I put it all back together and now the bolt wont go all the way home, it almost seems as if the nozzle is too long?
I'm not a techie and struggle with things like this but have managed not to break anything yet. I was thinking of getting one of those zeta labs kits but that wont solve the problem and will also require a 550mm vsr barrel which seem to be as common as BGS hop kits :(

Jimbo, if it makes you feel any better I never managed to hit a damn thing with that gun, so its present sorry state shouldn't affect performance at all.

.....doesn't make you feel any better, does it?

Well first Im no expert but have had my hop apart and repaired the housing(not BGS though) also Tom had a problem with his nozzle which needed carefully tapping back into the bolt, sounds like the same problem as it wasnt able to engage, happy to have a quick look for you and can bring a spare Tanaka incase you need it :good:

Sure no problem, if it is the same thing it should be obvious by (as you say) comparing it to another bolt :good:

I tried a gentle tap but nothing happened and didnt want to muller it. I've been reading through some of the k98 threads. I sold this rifle to Roy Bailey some years ago, he sold it on and it ended up with a mate of mine, so I swapped a really nice WE 416 GBBR to get hold of it. I have no idea what's been done to it since I parted with it.

Jimbo , I'll bring mine along too,it has the bgs system in it and I have never had any problem with it, if I can find it I still have the standard hop system kicking around somewhere.

Very wise! the nozzle is only a piece of brass tubing and the fit very tight so can easily be damaged mishaped etc. When I did Toms I put a 4BA bolt into the nozzle first to spread the impact evenely around the nozzle rim, liberraly lubricated and checked between each tap that it was going back in straight, labourious but worked ok.

Best to check that it is that before taking a hammer to it though, so we can compare it with mine or Sandy's :good:

Yeah I've learned the hard way, if in doubt, leave it alone 'till you find someone who knows. I'm counting myself lucky that this has happened a week before we all meet up, so I'll have a wealth of knowledge on site :happyclap:

If I recall, the BGS hop kit comes with a block of plastic with which to drift the nozzle in with. I might be wrong (it was a good while ago) but I think this block both gave something to spread the load/protect the nozzle as well as set the depth. I sold my rifle with all the bits in the set so there must be some setting blocks knocking around (if peeps didn't chuck at the bits away, once fitted!).

I can't speak for the organisers of 'Corridor', but I'd say that's a fine set of kit :good:

Well beyond what I had for my first bash with Jimbo  .

I can have a look to see if I have any other bits, but I'd say your pretty much there with basic kit.

Spaces are more the problem. Unexpected wave of Allies :giggle: :happyswing:

Cheers

no problem with the kit except maybe the helmet is a yank one but ok,cant quite see the shape.you will have to have a look a booking a place though as i think they have closed the allied side because the numbers are not equal in allied favour .contact the organisers they may let you in ,its worth a try.

armoury
m1a1 Thompson,sten mk2,mp40,stg44,sterling,mk2 bren gun,lee Enfield no4 mk1,Mauser Kar98, Walther ppk,smith and Weston m10 and Mauser m712
Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
