Hey guys, as my M1 helmet refurb goes full steam ahead. Im getting the essential's ready for corking the helmet. Just ordered the cork from J Murray. but now i need a technique for application.

I've heard various people mix it with glue then spread it on then paint over it. Other one was mix it with the paint... and bad it on.

I was thinking of putting a layer of paint down and sprinkle the cork over..let it dry then give it a second coat.

There is a lot of information about this on this very forum - give the search a whirl and see what you come up with..

I spray painted by helmet, whilst sprinkling mud over it, not exactly "corking" it, but doesnt look too bad

Yeah i saw that thread chommers...But i was just curious if anyone had any other techniques..maybe i should have added a commment to that thread.

I'll try that dab and sprinkle effect. IT should take about 5-7 days for the corking to arrive.

One thing not mentioned in the old thread - SOF do the correct shade of paint in a spray - good for your final coat.

I've hopefully got some paint from another source..but if that falls through does anyone think that Nato green matt paint would be the same?
