...If I was going to get one, which I might, where would the best place be to pick one up from?

Well i would advise you to get an AEG version, the gas blowback 1s are super sexy and sound great, but not very practical airsoft guns.
There are a number of places where you can get an M14 - M1 coversion kit from, Shoot and Scoot, AZR to name two.
The S&S M1 has the normal plastic M14 receiver and a resin front end (imitation wood) with a cast brass barrel and gas tube assembly, which has a nice weight to it and is sturdy (the cast metal is actually from my old Marushin M1 Garand that I gave to Waren) so things like the Bayonet etc fit, and it's very accurate in it's size etc. I myself have 1 of these, and am in the process of replacing the plastic and resin parts with real wood counterparts.
I haven't actually experimented with AZR version, however I know that Barrie and Anne successfully turned their M14s into M1 Garands using the AZR kit, and they look very good. With the exception of a wider stock where you hold it with your trigger hand (to fit the motor in), and a slightly bigger forearm at the front, they look the nuts, and it's real wood. Have a look at the pics of Barrie and Anne from the 'In the pocket' game
There are a number of other kits about, but I'm not well versed on them, perhaps some1 else could shed some light...

Me
I'm currently building 2 Garands using AGM M14s and ShootNScoots conversion kits, hopefully be ready in a couple of weeks. Apart from fitting the kits I'll be moulding the M14 stock so it looks closer to the Garand and I'll be including 6 of the shotgun mags that fit in the M14 magwell, (if you're not aware it means that they don't stick out from the stock so the guns profile looks more authentic plus they'll fit in the Garand belts). I'll be looking for £280 posted.
With regard to the AZR kits the main stock is made over-length to accomodate the spring closing mechanism for the dummy bolt so the proprotions don't look quite right.

2nd Bat does use a real steel front end and hand guard parts which make his guns look good, but I think he has sacrificed some of his finish quality for speed of production, and some parts (like the upper hand guard and the forestock) are held together with cloth tape, which I really wasn't happy with - I got one from him and ended up totally rebuilding it myself.

I did a little comparing, this new m14 Cyma with wood stock doesn't really match the Garand stock?
It should do, think I'm right in saying that the M14 stock was identical to the M1 apart from the aperture for the mag in the bottom. It the front of the gun that was different.
