old un , if you soak your boots in urine, all you get is boots that rot fast and smell awful. take it from an ex paratrooper dont pee on your boots, pee in a bucket and soak your feet in it, the urick acid in pee toughens skin ( true ,,,, ask your doctor) but a quicker more pleasant way is to rub your feel where the get sore with surgical spiritit does the same job of toughening the skin. a way we used to soften boots in the army was to use 2 hammers, one inside and beat the leather till it thins and softensbut again, this takes time.
Anyone seen the extras on the Band of Brothers DVD??
From what i can remember Ron Livingstone who plays Nixon does a video diary and it shows him softening up his new Corcorans
In a bath of water. Remember though that their boots weren't the horrible painted versions that today's are.
CHThree has stripped the paint off his and then re-waxed them, it makes them a lot softer and also gives a much better look. I'll be doing the same this summer.
It's a complete bastard to do though. Nitromors and enough time and patience.

Bob used the same Corcoran brand replicas that SOF sell i believe
Yes, I think so. I've seen some pretty shoddy ones kicking (no pun intended) around through.
Mine are original Corcorans, but looking at the ones they use in BoB they've definitely been stripped of the paint and re-waxed.

Heh, original Corcorans as in Brazilian factory buying the Corcoran brand name?

Well, yes, but still a far sight better quality than these darker brown ones I've seen around.

No idea where they are made and dont realy care but they are "official" Corcorans and a lot better than anything else ive seen repro wise although a lot of the reenactors bang on about ATF boots but screw that i aint paying shipping/customs etc when im more than happy with the Corcorans.
No idea what type the BOB guys used(didnt know there was more than 1)but i used to have a pair of ex BOB ones and they had the same label/tag as the current ones.
a pal of mine has a government surplus shop in brecon, he sold a load of british hi leg boots to the SPR production company and they sprayed them brown, in a few scenes ( like when the rangers are looking through the dog tags and the glider troops are walking past)you can spot them if your eagle eyed enough.
Actually, I think the Corcoran factory is in Mexico not Brazil - cheap labour for the US market!

Mine are period corcorans from i think the bloke said 45 but were never issued so they were almost immaculate when I got them. I never really have bashed them in as they're pretty comfy already
Original Corcorans and you are wearing them
Any chance of some pics as something tells me they are probably post WW2 brown combat boots which are very similar.
If they are original WW2 Corcorans STOP WERAING THEM NOW

They are 'original' Corcorans as in the brand, but they aren't 'original' as in period.
They're the same painted repros that I have. You can strip the paint off them, but like I said, it's not a job for the faint hearted.
