Searching through my WW2 bits and pieces, knowing somewhere, I have an M1 pot, now I have found it, can't remember it being in this condition,.....do you think I need a new one!
More,
I will attempt to clean it up, anybody know where I can get the right colour spray paint!
there is I think on here or somewhere in google land a good article on redoing helmets , from cleaning them right down and redoing paint and cork
paint wise I used humberol 155 on all the ones I have done, started using many of the small pots as was easier for the guide and corking then , then after doing so many I just went for the spray acrylic same number etc
Thanks for that, I shall have a go at this next weekend, total strip out and down to bare metal, out will come panel beating hammers and dollies! And on eBay for a strap.
Couldn't wait for the weekend, early finish at work, stripped off paint. M1A1 & 1911 for affect.
It's a bit beat up, might have been through a war!
Paint is on the way, I reckon I can get most dents out, might have to use a smidgen of filler,.....good old isopon!
The first 20 min session with hammer and post dolly, (which I made for this job) not too bad, most of the big dents gone,
Here's the post dolly,
Will be having another go later, ........looks like rain!
I might not bother with the cork texture, I will see how it comes out when primered, might just buy a net, quite like the look, very " longest day" effect.
First coats of primer,
And now a guide coat, that's enough " on the pot" for today, hung up to dry. Sourced new strap, and Matt olive drab paint arrived, and it's the correct colour!
Is it just me or are there no photos in this thread?

This might work
Now hopefully see it in primer,
Fingers crossed,.......gone again! I need to sort this out, could be problem with the IPad, but it's probably me!
