been thinking about the reising more. perhaps a cut down m14(will look out of scale I reckon) or maybe a mp40 in a wood stock?

ok the bugs bitten me again. With a garand a bit of a struggle for my wrist and warrens m1 carbine a bit of a way off I've been pondering the grease gun again.

any suggestions?

Theres plenty of the cheap m1 springer in the states I can use as a kind of body kit. I realise their proportions arent right. but it will do for the top part of the receiver etc.

The biggest problem I came up against was the distance between the front of the trigger and the mag well. couldnt really come up with a suitable donor gun. the mp40 was the best bet but its magwell was to far away. the mp5k was too close as are all armalite varients, ak varients and others.

anyone have a suggestion?

Webby, I think you will find they're wearing jungle boots ;)

Actually the boots shown in that previous picture are jump boots being worn by Marine Paratoopers. They're not "Corcorans" but the USMC take on the para boots idea. Unlike the Army boots they did not have a toe cap. Also in the picture it can be seen that the men are wearing what looks to be first pattern Marine Corps jump smocks with the heavy external elbow padding very much in evidence.

Keep your fingers crossed,i might find the perfect gearbox that will fit,i have been planning it for ages, its all metal, just got to suss the trigger out,as soon it all works,i will let you know all the parts i used.the m14 and mp40 gearbox will fit,it has to sit in front of the trigger, but i might have to use a electric switch for the trigger.

So they are, Tarnish.

Made myself look like a double idiot there

I thought the idea of the Para-Marines never really took off.

Rhysd2, one of the guys in the US used a FN P90 gearbox for his M3. I thought about doing the same thing to my Greasegun, but never got round to it.

oh I know the mp40 and p90 boxes fit fibble and e-company my problem is I dont have a hudson to put it into. instead I was trying to work out another gun I could modify to change into one.

the closest size wise is the mp40 but its just that bit to big.

not a bad idea at all mate. if the triggers remote linkage could easily move the magwell further from the body. main problem there being that the body is just to drastically different from the m3a1

There you are Rhys, buy it now and it'd cost you $25 inc P&P and you've got the contacts in the US to do it.

Of course the Hudson came closest to the real thing, field strips like the real thing too.
I've still got my Hudson M3A1 + 3 mags stored in Belgium, can't keep it in the Netherlands :( It comes out to play at Belgian events sometimes as a display item.

I've fired a magazine full of blanks through an original M3 a few years ago at the Santa Fe event in Roermond, Pretty scary stuff! :D

aye saw those cheap springers a while back. getting a friend to send me one over for a fiddle. had heard the proportions were wrong but going to try one none the less

also now toying with the idea of creating a gas springfield. what would people think of one of those?

whichever i can get a stock for at a reasonable price! heh

the well (g22) gas clone rifle could be a good bet for this although apparently the cylinder/outer barrel is the gas resivoir so you would have to ensure the original barrel wasnt cut and fitted ok

a friend in the states who also has a mp40 is going to snag one of those m3 grease gun springers tonight and will test for me sizing. so within a day or so will know if its possible

well according to my friend in the US the springers proportions arent right to fit over the top of a mp40(kinda guessed that already) and the gun itself isnt sturdy enough really to take the mp40 gearbox internally. it'd need a fair bit of dremmeling then a structure built to support all the internals so guess that ideas off.

also apparently the WELL gas rifles are fairly pants so wont be building a gas springfield. going to have to console myself by building another high standard HDM, and buying a 1911, until warren makes his m1 carbine AEG or the blowback version of marushins one comes out
