I've seen a variety of colours regardless of officer or grunt. mainly because they were made by many different factories. so I dont think theres a real right answer. sense dictates that the more green it is the later in the war it is but I dont think thats the case

The fact is that one can gather any number of original examples of wartime clothing and the colour will vary enormously even on unused/unissued items. Although a colour standard was set by the army a large number of shades and colours were produced and many were accepted by the army as meeting a particular standard. It is what makes the "Khaki Nazis" in re-enacting so annoying. Having seen a display of original M1942 paratroop uniforms at the Ste Mere Eglise museum and them ranging from pale green through to the "classic" tan colour I'm of the opinion there is no real right or wrong.

They were all dyed in different places by different people using vegetable dyes. The colours vary wildly so I wouldn't worry too much unless it's pink. :ghey:

Don't forget that when you're looking at old photos or original uniforms there will be a certain amount of degredation from the inks and dyes used so they won't give a fair representation of the colours anyway.

Go with what suits your skin tone, or is the most slimming. ;)

personal preference is the way forward. I realised quite quickly that the only way to get the truely correct colour is to add a bit of mud, blood, sweat and tears to it. (blood optional)

Have owned various M41s over the years-all repros from different makers and have been very happy with all of them to be honest. No 2 were the same colour but i believe that is how originals were???

Dont believe in the repros there isnt a difference between EM and Officers jkts just that for some reason STURM label theirs as Regulation Officers Style :?

Officers tended to have M41's made by a civilian tailor for them, they tended to be of better quality than the issued M41.

Same with Officers shirt's but even then im Combat most wore the normal shirt. People should really stop calling the EM Wool Shirts & Trousers as even Officers were issued them except they went off and had tailor made items!

It's ok fella, you wanna get the 1 that you want afterall! Best ringing up whoever you're going to get it from, and stipulate which shade you want.

dont forget to factor in the fact that colour photography was in its infancy and due to war time shortages of chemicals, sometimes the camera did lie.
