When I looked into it the ATF stuff certainly looked very nice BUT I couldn't manage to get postage below $52.50 and there was no incentive for bulking the order up as adding a couple more items saw delivery rise to $126.50...
So while I'm sure it's lovely it's a bit too pricey for the odd airsoft game. It came down to a toss up between SoF and Epic for me and I went with the former and although theirs does seem quite green I'm hopeful it will tone down.
Just after wools (shirt and trousers) now as Ant-Z on ebay singularly failed to deliver.

to buy the most orginal looking M41 jacket
Thats what he asked for.
If he had said 'cheapest possible [or even most reasonably priced] that would do for airsoft' then I would have sent him to Epic or SoF.

That's fine Poacher. I, however, was replying to the more recent question:
Where did others get theres from and what did they think.

Hi guys. Sorry, I'm new here but I've collected original and repro jacket for close on a decade now and the best M-41 repro is made by Buzz Rickson of Japan. Pricey but worth it. Source a second hand one and you won't regret it. Cheers.

There are not many who will pay that money to take such a jacket out into the woods and skirmish in it.
You will learn that 'best' usually means, with some exceptions, 'the cheapest I can get away with'.

Okay, so apparently the Buzz Rickson M1941s are the best. At around £275
they'd better be. Sadly, they're out of my size
. It would appear that the ATF ones are the next best at around £115 to £150 depending on how luck/unlucky you are with import duty. Tempted...
But, the question I have is, for around £55 delivered is how good/bad are the current crop of Epic/SoF M1941s. And, does anybody know the difference between the two SoF versions.

I ordered another one from Epic last week and thought it was closer than the last £50 one I ordered from SOF:
The cuffs on the Epic one aren't stitched round which is correct - I think.
The zip is right handed - supposedly the americans use left handed zips for men and so the zip is wrong - that is if ATFs page is to be believed (is he ALWAYS right? He is very convincing.)
Colour wise the Epic ones are quite olivey and not a mint green, like the £50 SOF ones. I think the £50 SOF ones are probably at the extreme ends of the acceptable/plausible shades for an M41. They are quite mint green. Then again I think you would probably go mad and spend a lot on return postage if trying to nail shades of olive/khaki was a priority for you.
I cant comment on weight or fabric as I haven't handled an original - so what do I know anyway
Why not buy one from each and send the one you don't want back for a refund? Or send back both if you don't rate either of them and get a refund? You'll only lose on a few pounds return postage, and then you can move on with your life.

Ordered the 'Heavy Cotton' one from SoF.

Hehe glad to hear it
With distance purchases I usually get an unnerving mixture of anxiety and obsession, and a huge sense of relief when it arrives and turns out OK in the end
I am getting better at coping with it mind you.

I'm sure I'll be more than happy with it
At least until I see first hand how it compares to a real or very good repro one...
At that point I'll probably be on ATF's website ordering a more correct one...
But until that point I'll be happily ignorant.

Arrived today from SoF - one M1941 jacket. Actually looks really good to my untrained eye.
