just a quick question:

doe sthe colour or style of boots matter?

i have a pair of black laced, steal toe-tectors which i usualy skirmish in but they don't go very well with the 101st loadout i (sort of) have. so im thinking of buying a second pair of boots just for the wwii kit and thaught id ask before i went out a baught some.

cheers for the help

The US boots are brown so black ones arnt so good, theres types of boots depending on ure loadout if your doing late war airborne then you would want the rough out buckle boots but if your doing the early airborne (D-Day) the jumpboots are probably best but they cost a fortune but you can get dutch lookalikes for like nothing from here http://www.aprilorange.nl/Netherlands_1946-_until_now__no_camouflage_E_grp_19-1.ph p"> http://www.aprilorange.nl/E_frame.html? ... p_19-1.php the ones that say they look like jump boots

I'd buy Jumpboots as these are historically correct for the entire war. Many airborne troopers kept their jumpboots for operation Marketgarden, as they were their status symbol.

On the other hand, M43 double buckle boots are also usuable for regular infantry in Europe from the winter of 1944/45 onward (earlier for those in the Italian campaign). Handy if you want to put an infantry uniform together.

I think that's Flib's point about them being 'status symbols'. The replacements would have been issued buckle boots, while the vets kept their Corcorans.

lads, i bought the jump boots from the link above " orange", i was after brown boots for fallschimjager, however thay are a very close looking corcoran boot. about 20 quid with the postage and here within a week. they have got the toe cap which i was going to remove but as its hardly noticable i've left it on. they are however very stiff soled so i would get a size bigger so you could fit an insole into them

For a cheap alternative to the FJ-boots look for Belgian Army boots from the 50s-60s...or so I'm told.

here you go, had to run away and take some quick snaps,

couple of just the boots and couple in fj trousers so you can see how they look when worn

the boots came in poor condition, but are of good quality, a day or two of airing and a few coats of brown polish and they look smart again.

who owns a pair of cocorran jump boots? are they comfy?! are they worth the cost and do they do a good job of keeping your feet fairly dry?(I will give them a good soaking in dubbing)
I'm about to order a pair and am wondering if they are worth the cost compared to the cheaper alternatives

I wore a pair of Corcorans all day at Churchill's revenge, they were well dubbed and I didn't notice them leaking until we hiked across the swamp to the allied camp site.

They have slightly odd sprayed on finish to them which I'm not sure I like, but they are looking better with age and use.

Cheers

Have you tried wearing some british army goretex bootliners/socks with them???

Work a treat and can be found for under a tenner

The best way to deal with the current corcoran boots is to strip that sprated in paint finish with nytromoors, re-dye and get very busy with the brown polish.
The junk they spray on does not tale polish or dubbin very well and looks like shit anyway. The only way to bull the boots is strip them first.
