Does anyone know what the official colour of these is?
In order to get some cheap, comfortable boots with a useable sole, I've bought some British High Legs (not Assault) and I'm going to spray them. I know it won't look perfect, but it'll do and be more usable than boots without a tread pattern.

Brown.

I dont think there is an official colour...Like HS said its just brown.
Ta, I'll try to find some Krylon that matches.

clean the wax polish off first with white spirit or the paint will flake off real fast.
Yep, they're going to get a good scrubbing with Meths and wire wool to start with.
Not sure if the Krylon will last long on the leather, but its worth a try.

... and then buy some Dark Red shoe dye! Most shoe repair shops sell leather colours / dye and the US Jump boots are a very reddy-brown colour when new. They go nice and brown when worn in and polished a few times!

Can anyone with some genuine jump boots let me know if the side of the sole units (welts etc) are black or brown?
The first boot is done (just need brown laces) and whilst nowhere near a perfect replica it has that lived in look! I gave it a good scrub with meths and wire wool, took the top layer of leather off with sand paper and then liberally applied some Punch Shumagic Renovating Polish (medium brown). Looks like I managed to cobble (non pun intended) together a cheap pair of look alike jump boots with a half decent sole unit.
I'll post some pictures up when thery're both done.

I believe mine are a mixture of black, brown and white stitching
Much like these Corcoran's. except i have leather laces.
Ta, I won't be trying to recreate that! I'll just spray them brown.

Finally finished them! Not an exact replica, but they'll pass inspection and they have a usable sole unit. As a reminder, these started as black British Combat High Legs - I've taken the top layer of leather off with a Dremel, stuck some medium brown polish on them, sprayed the welt area and stuck in some brown laces. Total cost less than £20, plus a couple of hours of my time!

It really wasn't that difficult, the Dremel took all the hard work away. Biggest problem was finding the time!

Im sure people wont be able to tell the difference in the field. Just need to get a bit of dirt on them and they'll be fine
Great job though!
Thanks for the feedback, I've only a little more sewing to do to get my jacket and helmet sorted and I'll then get some full kit pics up.
