I suspect that not all WW2 games are played in nice weather, and whilst a bit of discomfort is okay, I'd rather not play for 24 hrs in piss wet clothing (any fool can be uncomfortable!). Obviously period wet weather gear won't be up to Goretex standards, but what is acceptable to use?

I have an old British (nylon) poncho and myabe able to get my hands on a few very old canvas ones - would these be okay?

Jon - you are right, 24hrs in the rain isn't fun. Anything to keep you in-game is fine, such circumstances by-pass authenticity!
But a bright red modern goretex walking jacket would look poo, so anything that looks OK from a distance and keeps you dry is fine - green or brown ponchos of any description.

Ok, I'll go with the nylon poncho then.

If I can find them, is anyone interested in the canvas ones?

If you want to look somewhat period:

Long OD green raincoats, Frenchies are okay, but usually aren't waterproof anymore after 40 years.
Repro's are expensive and stiff.

Ponchos are correct for late war, Vietnam style Poncho's will do if you remove or tuck in hood.

I use my original USMC poncho, it still smells of the waterproofing!
