I am about to order the webbing for my infantry loadout. From reading this forum I gather that some of the repo stuff does not hold up (SoF) and such.
Could anyone advise me on the best place to order my webbing from. I am sure that origionals are the best but getting to militaria fairs from my cave in Yorkshire is troublesome and checking ebay this last few days has revealed little.
You say you are from Yorkshire? Do you know of Platoon in Bury near Manchester? If your not too far away you should defo have a drive over because they have a lot of original stuff and most of it seems pretty well priced. That place is like an Aladins cave, I could spend days looking thru all their gear!

I got all mine from various sellers at the Militaria fair at the weekend and other people I have met from people on this forum.
Most that I got from the fair was from foreign traders. None of them had a complete set of everything I needed.
Original webbing is second hand and tends to have been through several owners. There's not an Aladdin's Cave like Sabre Sales is for Brit stuff.
You could try ringing Platoon up and asking them.
Note that it is probably important that you understand what the webbing is before buying. I got the GI Collector's Guide and it meant I was fully educated in the ways of US Webbing before I shopped.

I looked at your piccie and know what all the bits are on there, and the site kit guides are a lot of help. The mail think looks to be to get the Tan stuff and not the green stuff, going by the SoF listings as a base.
My brother already having it all is a help too. - Plus their hats are called hats... Not scarves to make me look like a fool!

Thats a really early pouch on my webbing and a quite early bottle
To be honest when looking at the SOF webbing the only thing I really didn't like was the ammo bag. The real one was much more substantial.
I can actually hardly tell the difference between my SOF belt and my real one. Both have small frays around some of the eyelets.

What bits of webbing are you after?
Sold most of my original bits but might have a few other bits i havent come accross yet
Ive got a GP ammo bag from SOF, Its nice but im gonna replace it with an original one.
LOL, I compared the two myself last Sunday, no idea why I did, but repro ammo bag bear no comparison with the original for construction.
Repro pistol belts have rivets that drop out with gaming rough and tumble - saying that, I think the originals were a pretty flawed construction concept. I wouldn't mind betting they were constantly being replaced! Tip - water bottles are very heavy when full and put a lot of stress on the weave when cavorting.
There's no give in the fabric. So makes it bulky when by your side.

its SOF belts that are the problem, the suspenders/yoke, pouches etc are all fine( if a little light coloured) . the belts defy belief, the eyelets came out of mine 5 seconds out of the box,as i was trying to attach the 1911 holster. avoid. plus the monkey metal buckles are shite too.
I would go for original where possible, I had big problems with the buckle not liking my gut, Ive snapped the buckle on 4 M1 Garand Ammunition belts! 
I shall have to keep my eyes open and live on Ebay.
