Maybe you'll really need teams of two, as in real life - just swap weapons regularly.

Well, it's been a productive day. I have just finished my MG42 (barring a tiny got of cosmetic work) and it all seems to work fine. The 9.6 battery really makes a difference. I've just marked out the grip extenders for Dels' gun and will have them cut and fitted by tomorrow. Got a few days off next week, when I plan to give both guns a good shakedown. I'll also have my K98 springer upgraded with PSS parts, plus my almost finished Enfield No.4 to test as well!

Here's some pictures of my freshly completed '42.-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

Well, I WAS planning on making a bit of a cottage industry out of these, ie, making half a dozen more or so as commissions but the supplier of the replicas, Heiko (Zib), has turned out to be so unreliable and untrustworthy that it's not worth the hassle unfortunately. A real shame but hey, there you go.

Shame. Maybe you could do a few No4s & K98s instead. A Ppsh41 is no doubt out of the question after the last one I assume?

No more PPSH41's unfortunately, mainly because my Dad, who did the steel fabrication, has now retired (as well as the one I made being a total bitch to get to feed properly). I only really make these guns to keep myself busy, because I enjoy doing it and overcoming the problems they pose and to just be different and to have a gun which isn't commercially available or affordable. I've only made a No.4 because I like them (being the first real gun I ever fired and being originally trained on the L42 sniper rifle in the army), I'll probably never skirmish with it.

I'm not averse to making more K98's or MG42's for friends if they supply the parts but that'd be it. Reason? Well, custom guns are very different from factory made ones. They have their own unique little quirks which the user has to accept and get used to. Too many people would expect factory perfect guns, which, with my lack of real expertise and my limited tools, I could not deliver.

Thats fair enough really. And I assumed you wouldn't want to do another Ppsh after you said yours was such a pain. I'm like you in that I like the idea of owning a gun that no-one else has. The trouble is I have no access to any metal working equiptment & not much expertise so options can be a bit limited when it comes to making my own. That and I can take a while to get round to doing things. I have many plans e.g. a Mosin nagant (maybe 2), G43, No4 (or maybe No5 to be different) etc but haven't finished one yet. Infact I've barely started. :slap:

A No.5 would be cool. You'll be surprised just how quickly a gun can come together when you get a "roll on". If you have all of the parts to hand it makes the job a lot easier. Improvisation (I can't stress it enough!) is more important than having a huge array of tools, eg, having bits of tube, some bendable flat sheet, some milliput, to hand, all of which cost very little.

Kicks Lardass up the butt - get making stuff lol

Totally agree with Pete - custom guns are one or maybe if lucky 2 or 3 offs, but will have built in quirks.

:kick: :kick: lol

I have most of the parts for my M91/30 except for a bolt handle. I'm after the sniper version but they're very rare. The only place I've found it is one ebay shop that gives you one free when you buy one of their PU scope. I am after a PU scope but the price is a bit more that I'd like to pay. Of course the biggest issue right now is that I don't have a donor gun to use for the internals. :slap:

If you're in an arse kicking mood Dell maybe you could pop over to Derby and tell a company there to give me the job already so I can start my projects?

Since Chommer's has returned from his jolly - he's closer so could do the kicking for you, or as an alternative, we both go wearing kit and tell them that the Fuhrer has said Rich needs to start ASAP

They're a french owned company so they'll probably surrender and sign it over to you, as long as they can run part of it somewhere in the south.

This is getting well O/T but I'd never heard of Daher in Derby so nipped down Sinfin Lane the other day. They have taken over the old Scholl factory - which Old 'Un knows well...
