Looking good. The Totenkopf cuff title might be a bit controversial though.

Here is a useful link on how the German soldier handled his rifle:

Lookin' good there fella.

If I might make one observation, speaking as someone who has a TK uniform or two, the cuff title would go with TK skull collar tabs, not with the conventional SS runes. Given that your HBT tunic is an M43 pattern one (could be M42, brain stops working about this time of night lol), if you go for TK collar tabs, by 1942 the vast majority would be the single skull tab on the right, with a conventional SS rank tab on the left. Double skulls tended to be an early war thing (not that you *dont* see them late war, its just the exception, not the rule)

As to usability of TK uniforms, in three years my TK uniforms have had only one outing, as after the initial invasion of France, TK were pretty much Eastern front only.

Looks great Karl.
In my usual facetious way (not knowing anything about TK unlike wot Kermit does) I'll just remark you have a very WW2 waistline  and the cucumbers are coming on nicely.

I've always shied off representing specific units for my WfSS impressions. A generic loadout is more versatile and I just can't be bothered with the clever clogs who want to show off how much they know about the atrocities committed by the Fordcapri Brigade during the Battle of Kwickfit. I have to admit that until 10 minutes ago I thought that all Totenkopf were ex concentration camp guards.

I think you need to be well up on your history to portray a particular Axis unit without getting into arguments.

Just my opinion. :D

Usual way, distraction at the main gate then swept in with an unstoppable convoy. :giggle:

ahhh... good point on the cuff title, it would probably be much easier not to have one and thus be able to portray many different divisions if need be.

it does look good though  controversy aside...

the tunic is an M43 HBT if i can remember and the belt ... i accidentally ordered the wrong size :slap: but ive got a new one on order now so hopefully the kit should be sorted soon
just saving for the gun! looking forward to getting stuck in when my load-out is finished.

generic cufftitle - I know someone that can get titles made up, wonder if we could get "generisch-SS" titles made up? joking of course

Not exactly authentic - but you can always drop wearing a cufftitle, especially when wearing one of the multiple camo variation smocks or a dot'44 tunic - no insignia.

Yeah you should wear wool tunic underneath but they - dot'44's are great for late war summer games if the sun comes out.

There were enough units who had no cufftitle for it not to seem like an anomaly.

This very informative article tells you everything you need to know:

He is part of a group, a conglomerate of nations including Germans. He was and no doubt when not poncing about a twonk of which I saw no groups acknowledge his presense as he was poncing around pretending to be adolf in front of our display, but then that was the only time I saw him. I do know from one of my German friends that every night they did a meal with honours  for him. Those I found had most interest (or at least talked about it) were the non UK re-enactors.

I will note he waited as far as I saw until the public went home, but I still think it was a totally uneccessary impression even that done (ie I didn't see him during public hours but then that doesn't mean he wasn't). The same group had a stauffenberg and a few other characters pretty much as per valkyrie so I'm assuming this year they themed themselves on that theme.

Kind of chap that could spoil it for all axis re-enactors he is a twonk.

Complete (probably not the right phrase!) with only one eye, a few digits on one hand, and lacking the other arm entirely?

Ah, very interesting - thanks for that, Martin - didn't realise there were SS units who didn't wear cuff titles.

yeah thanks, if some units didnt have cuff titles i could remove the totenkopf one and that would then allow me to have a very flexible ss load-out.

cheers

If you like the look of cufftitles you can always choose a campaign one rather than a unit one. I awarded myself the Afrika campaign title after a 2 week holiday in Egypt :D
