I've finished the Enfield now, added a (dummy) mag release and the foresight protector (thanks Jay!). I also cut the mag down a bit as well, and added a deepfire reinforced trigger sear set for durability. It's shooting quite nicely as well. The 30 round mag is a real bonus, giving it much better firepower than my Tanaka K98 (and much easier to reload!). I'm almost certainly going to sell it though, as I don't do allied loadouts and I really only made this to keep myself occupied!-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

Thanks Yith, Im happy with it. Being a totally anal perfectionist, I'd have liked to bring the bolt handle back to where it should be but, lacking any machining tools, I'll have to leave it as it is. It doesn't affect the way the weapon works anyway.

If you're being a perfectionist the most noticeable thing isn't that, its the bolt end itself (aka cocking piece).

But as I said... its pretty damn fine as it is!

I do hope someone from PBI buys it!

I need some advise and information...

Is the AGM VSR 10 the same as the JG bar 10?
If not which is the better rifle?
I want to build myself a 98k using a Dboys for the externals but i do not know which budget bolt gun would be best for the internals.
It would be left stock or just the airbrake would be cut down.
Any information would be appreciated

Z

Z, the AGM VSR 10 isn't fully TM VSR compatible - the JG BAR 10 is - go with that rifle as your 98k springer base unit :good:

I'm resurrecting this thread, as I'm about to begin a Mosin Nagant conversion, based on a VSR10. I've worked out the barrel length required to a whopping 630mm! The closest I could find to this is a Laylax PSS10 6.03mm one, measuring in at 625mm in length (longer than a PSG1!). It's on order and when it arrives, I'll drop it into the hop unit (along with the nineball airseal rubber) and see how it performs.

Having lined the VSR receiver up against the Nagant stock I have, I'm hoping this won't be an awkward job, as the Nagant stock seems to have plenty of room for it all to fit into. I've also ordered a Nagant cocking piece, in the hope I can fit it to the rear of the VSR mechanism for some added realism. Not to mention the repro scope and mount I've ordered!

Hey Pete, looking forward to seeing your progress on this one. I'm assuming you've seen this thread over on the US WW2 forums:
http://ww2aa.proboards45.com/index.cgi? ... hread=3808

Thats about the nicest Nagant conversion i've seen thus far, but from the sound of it, its a tougher job that the k98's.
He's done a great job with the cocking handle.

Regarding the barrel lenght, I've never really considered it to be much of an issue to have a disparity between the inner and outer barrel lenghts on an airsoft gun. so long as the inner barrel is perfectly centered and the outer barrel end has at least an 8mm openning or so, then I don't see any real issues!? :|

Anyway, good luck with it mate, I'm sure you will do a cracking job as always :good:

We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

The Mosin performed really well at Operation Lightning. I need to tweak the hop a bit, so it puts more spin on the bb because the range wasn't as good as I expected but, still, it outranged the S&S Enfields.

Talking of Enfields, I've been asked to post pictures of how my stock is jointed, so here goes (forgive the child like paint skills!).

A question about "sniping" Now I have my lovely k98 I'm wanting to get back into sniping in ww2 games as well as using the load out in "Open day" skirmish. I've seen the SS patterns work very well at my local site and although I've always portrayed Heer I guess it's time to dip my toes into SS gear. I've brought a Swedish tunic to wear under a smock so I can put collar litzen on that I was just wandering which pattern smock to go for and although I usually buy from Epic could you recommend anywhere else possibly cheaper?

Oakleaf and blurred edge probably the most common and best suited to the UK. Spearhead in Singapore (ebay) do good value ones.

Heide had a beautiful blurred edge smock - I thought it was one of the best camos I'd ever seen.

Most common? Probably the Plane Tree patterns - they were around from 1937 onwards, Oakleaf came a fair bit later.

**edit**

Peterson's book states that Oakleaf and Ringed Oakleaf appeared no earlier than 1942.

That was an Underwood one. It was very good, I think Pinkpanzer has it now. I'd recommend it as an effective camo pattern, along with Oakleaf. Of course, they work best when you stay still!

ive always liked the plaintree best myself, wearing a plaintree smock / helmet cover, grey pants and jackboots i sat in a bush 5 feet in diamiter , and had a group of people walk by within 6 feet, and no-one saw me. most camos work fine, like pete said, AS LONG AS YOU STAY STILL :D

Tanaka base gun, '42 stock, '42 stock bands/metalwork, '42 rear sight, '42 cleaning rod, '42 bolt stop/release, '42 safety, '42 safety housing/bolt shroud, '42 striker, '42 extractor.

Mounts and scope are by no means perfect, I used an old scope(20-30 years old, bit beaten up), as it looks the part more so than modern guff. Mounts are modern ones, but have the added bonus of windage adjustment, as ive had problems with other sniper set-ups, scopes not having enough adjustments, etc.

Internally, 555mm VSR10 6.03 tightbore, 9ball VSR10 hop rubber, Kingarms/pax/2roy M700 VSR conversion hop chamber and an extended loading nozzle.

My armoury;
Tanaka Kar98(1942 woodwork and parts), M1 Garand AEG(1940's woodwork and metalwork), MG34, SVT40, Mosin Nagant M44, MP40, PPSH41, Luger and PPK.

I think he means its based upon a Tanaka M700 with VSR barrel and hop fitted. So its still gas and he's not harmed a Tanaka K98.
