Ok from the top....

Either black M43 with 1 piece Bevo insignia or M40 - with two piece Bevo insignia (eagle and Skull)
Grey/green shirt - ask Anthony for correct colours
Pink waffenfarbe on Black backed shoulder straps - rank of your choice
Waffen-SS Runes with appropriate Rank collar patches
Jackboots are fine, there were shorter boots for 'tankie's' but if only for airsoft? - just have the trousers over hanging, since panzer trousers are supposed to be baggy.

Get an EM's black leather belt and Waffen-SS EM's belt buckle.

To go with the - 'just jumped out of the Tiger look' a pistol/holster, 1 triple MP-40 pouch and your MP-40

Oh do you know the model of Panzer Tunic? Vertical or slanted front closure?

If its Sgt Major your going for then that would make you a Hauptsharfuher or if you wanted to be a Regimental sgt Major that would make you a Sturmscharfuhrer, which incidently is the rank i have on my 1st SS panzer division uniform.

Jackboots should be fine for a 1943 look as there were worn in Russia, correct me if i'm wrong!

Incidently as your going to be portraying a SNCO you could get away with an officers belt, i wear one with mine!

Last one just for a bit of fun!

Not 100% accurate but it gives you and idea! :D

Sounds right, Houndsworth - the Heer wrap actually wraps over one side.

Erm......I misunderstood you all...sorry...the jacket is a wrapover fastening on the right side!!! So would I be correct in choosing to do Gross Deutchsland Div as they were Army and not SS??
If so Ive wasted all your efforts in helping me!!! So I'll start again..

Hi Everyone Im looking to portray a tankie Sgt Major of the GD Div!!!

In regards to originally wanting to do Das Reich...Im well aware of their history and would never wear that stuff for reenactment or in public...some do and thats their choice...but as its airsoft and not public events we are doing I assumed that would be ok??

both Heer and SS Panzer jackets fasten on the right hand side, we were asking if the edge is straight or slanted.

Waffen-SS Panzer Wrap -
Heer Panzer Wrap -

No restrictions at all, barring common decency - one would question why someone turned up playing in Allgemeine kit though and use of the party salute would get short shrift...

I didnt want to cause any ructions here!!!!! This just highlights my lack of knowledge in regards to whats acceptable at airsoft events. To assume I would ever dream of using a nazi salute is extremely unfair unfounded and unwise. Gadge I would hope knows me enough to assure anyone that Im not that way inclined politically. It is merely an historical interest in that Division that is all. Dont assume Im not aware of the historical facts!

This does raise other questions though??? Its ok for some people to portray Russian troops...infamous for their treatment of Germans, Polish etc etc. Sgt McDiarmid of 2nd SAS should have been charged with a war crime...and theres countless other tales of crimes carried out by countless other armies.

As it is ,its a Heer wrap so will be doing GD!!!!! Very interesting article here.

I didn't assume anything, you asked the question - I provided illustrative points! (And not specifically aimed at you either, there are other people who read the forum too  )

As you infer, going down the route of banning portrayal because of who did what to whom is somewhat ridiculous. Fact is as long as we (the airsoft community, much as the reenactment community) steer clear of the political aspect then all's good. Frankly depicting anyone shooting anyone else could be construed as obscene in itself - but hey, we rationalise it and call it a hobby and live with it...
