I don't know of such a badge. Unless you are referring to the death's head worn by Panzer crews (which was traditionally a cavalry symbol used by many nations). The 3rd Waffen SS Division used it as their unit symbol also. Are either of these what you mean? If not, do you have a wartime photo you can point us to?

It's a generic SS symbol and also a unit badge, not a qualification badge. Some SS units had symbols instead of SS runes on the right collar tab. The 3rd SS Division Totenkopf was one.

The death's head is a very old symbol that was used by Hussar regiments in the Prussian army.

I suppose as 'qualification' badge it is at least fairly honest.

This is not a "Qualification" badge. This sleeve diamond patch was only worn by SSTV officers ranked Standartenführer or higher. Since these men wore their rank insignia on both collar patches, the sleeve diamond "replaced" the Death's Head on their collar patches.

So unless you are doing an early war high-ranking officer impression then it is not applicable!

So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
