Dave,

What I need is a server with php (version 4.03 or above), MySQL (version 3.22 or above) and pretty much any webserver software... I generally use Apache.

I need ftp access to the files area, info on the database settings and preferably shell access, though this last bit isn't essential.

How much is this likely to cost us... cos there's free/cheap systems on the net we could use instead!

Richard

Do you need access to root or can I restrict your activity to a folder within /public_html ?

I shouldn't need access to root...

Access to a directory other than public_html would be nice though so I can put sql dumps and other temporary scripts in places where they can't be accessed through the webserver

Got the email Dave... and have started the installation... going well so far!

I also need to know the version of MySQL you've got on there and the name you've given the database.

Cheers!

Right... the forum software is installed here:

http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/cgi-bin/phpBB2/index.php

As you can see its far from complete!

I now need to get a dump of the database from our existing server. This will require me to request the data from the hosts and they charge $10 I think for the privelige... I'll foot the bill.

Dave... I will need shell access to run the script the supply against the database and install it. I suggest a secure (SSH) shell.

Good, I see it!

You will have to hold my hand with the shell access thing...

Super-duper - good job Rich, went nice and smooth! (And blooming quick - working away from computers for afternoon, pop back on and it's sorted!)
