Has anyone else noticed that the unread thread highlighting thingy seems to have a life of its own?
I read something and its not marked as read... so I click "mark all in forum read" and that works, but a load of unconnected items become unread...
Its all rather odd...
Nope!
But anyone noticed the forum is more sprightly this week? Bah! I got fed up of waiting for pages to load (also happens on my other web sites on the server) so finally got round to sorting it.
BTW, as I was clearing server logs this morning I noticed an unusual set of error messages. I can't be sure but it looks like someone has been testing the phpBB security - it looks very odd to me. In amongst it all was stuff related to ASCUK. I'll print it off for your opinion Rich when I see you at the weekend.
Ohhh sounds interesting !
And incredibly believable given the fact that they are incredibly paranoid.
If they hacked in it must have been horribly disappointing to find out the only things said on here are more or less what we say publicly..
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Damn, conspiracy theory out of the window - having checked the logs it looks like I get one concerted probing everyday trying to gain access to the databases but also web mail, blogs, ad servers, stats etc. It isn't ASCOCK!
I'm not sure of the purpose but as the pillaging is so comprehensive I assume the data gets sold to internet gangs looking for insecure servers to run their phishing campaigns from and spammers looking to relay plus grabbing email lists. Bastards.
Sounds about right...
fecking hackers get everywhere...
Hmmm... this now works fine for me...
I wonder what caused it...
Did you try changing the time setting in profile?
yes... it didn't help.
Oh, can't think why but perhaps the correction has something to my DB restore? Anyway, it's sorted now!
heh... I spoke to quickly... Its still up shit creek on my work pc
Can't think why using another PC would make a difference except that phpBB does drop cookies in your cache. Would it be worth clearing the cache?
Hmm... I'd rather not... hmmm... I'll see...
ah... firefox allowed me to selectively clear the cookies... I wonder if that worked...
so far so good...
