No that would be unfair on the rifle toting masses. Although it wont be finished by then it should be ready to fire some test rounds so with Craigs permission I may bring it along just to try a couple of shots

Gun sheild is done and a bit more work done on the dummy rangefinder/optics. With the gun sheild on it looks very much like a WWI feild gun but I suppose that was a major design influence. Need to adjust the fixing brackets so the gun sheild fits a bit higher and slopes back a bit more but overall happy with it. Will try to get the rangefinder finished this week. Then its a few finishing bits, making the shells for the TLSFX rounds and saving up for the TAG system so I can modify the breach for them and fit a firing pin. Oh also need to make a cleaning rod and make brackets for them to fit on the trail legs, Make up some dummy shells, make some canvas shell carriers for the ammo tin to hide the airsoft bits in, make a wooden box to fit in the far end of ammo tin to hide the gas in, make a leather front and rear breach cover,finish the last extension trail leg section.....god will it ever be finished, it would be nice to be able to watch the telly again 
Super impressed , makes me think we should re visit the flak gun as it has been out done .well done TIm can't wait to see it .what next heh he and are the Allied side going to dream something up ?

I'd go for the QF 3.7-inch mountain howitzer, as it's the smallest wheeled field-piece in use by the British during WW2 - it had a fairly long service career from introduction in 1917 and was used in North Africa, Italy, Netherlands and Burma campaigns during WW2 (and seen in use in Germany late-'44/'45).
From the same historic 'screw gun' development family-tree, I could also go for the smaller 10-pounder mountain gun, but these appear only in use with the poorer Commonwealth counties by WW2 and so wouldn't really be in period use...

Having looked at some pics of these I would agree. About the right size for stripping and transporting and a nice boxy construction should make the build possible. Go for it
Been faffing around with some odds and ends, so nothing major acheived recently. Started on the sabots for the TLSFX rounds, christ some hacksawing needed for these Will order the Tag system this weekend so I can start the breach modifications. 
The TAG system arrived today so I managed to do the breach modification before the football. Will have to wait for Craigs game to try it for real but I have to say it seems like a very nice piece of kit and could easily be fitted to panzerfausts/panzershreks etc In fact that may be my next project
