Righty ho, first WW2 game is next weekend (battle for Nigmegen) and I thought I'd knock up a few bits to help my sneaky collaborating team and fellow Germans.
Time bomb
Working timer and self contained battery pack. Has a built in 15ft trailing lead for use with electronically detonated pyro. Shown with trigger pin removed

Teller mines
Still a work in progress, there are 10 in total and still need the internals fitted and handles added. Again self contained battery supply and length of connection lead for use with electronically detonated pyro. Fuse section is designed to crush and make contact between two electrodes.

After speaking to josh, all the above have been designed to be defusable with simple tools and in a way which makes them re usable. ie not just snipping wires! A team mate of mine is producing period style hand books with instructions for disarming them. The booklets will be distributed to allied troops.
As I'm yet to attend a game I'm very unsure of how they will be received. Please let me know what you think of them as I'd love not to look like a total arse on my first outing!
Regards
Dave
P.s
Also working on some anti personnel mines as well. Similar to an S mine. I'll post pics if i get them done.
Honest opinion? H&S first. Airsoft pro is encased in cardboard to ensure safe fragmentation. Putting pyro in anything else needs to be tested very thoroughly to ensure bits of wood/metal don't fly all over the place, especially if you are intending defusing, since faces and bodies will be very near a potential discharge. Remote detonation is OK since a decision can be made with eyes-on... safe/non-safe. And a timer on pyro? Eeek! I've only ever done that with a timer well away from the charge itself so it can be disarmed away from risk.
There you go, honest opinion! Heh, mines & stuff can be great fun - as part of the scenario there is no reason to put a charge in a mine at all - they still have to be cleared regardless of whether they go bang or not!
Anyhoo, Josh will ensure 100% safety in use and won't entertain anything iffy so I'm not unduly worried - I'm just erring on the side of caution.

Sorry to clear things up all pyro is external and at a minimum 10ft away. I'd never even entertain the idea of a contained pyro due to fragmentation issues.

Dave
Super, you had me worried there!
I have some Amatol//Nobel wrapper artwork I made if you want anything to wrap sticks/blocks in?

For the TNT/Timer unit, would it be possible to hide the modern time inside/on the underside of it and have an analogue clock on the front to look a little more period? I built something along those lines some time ago for letting off pyro as part of a scenario. Eg; The allied team have captured a V2 launch site and have rigged up explosives to destroy them. The explosives are on a timer and it is the Axis teams job to re-capture the launch site and defuse the bomb. My device is basically a wooden box with a small clock face in it, housing an AEG battery for plenty of ooomph over a length of cable, and an alarm clock for mechanical reliability. I did consider making it tamper proof, that when some sod cut a wire trying to 'defuse' it, the pyro on the end of the wire would go BANG(meaning that to disarm the device you'd need to locate the timer unit and disarm it via that), but thats getting into the realms of IEDs.....We've yet to actually use my timer, it does work though.

I used real ex army demo landmines made out of steel with 5g charges at Bryansk many years ago , detonated by wire . Kermit nearly got the lid of one treppanning him . As CW says , stick to cardboard it's safer by far !
Only really need one thing IMO.....
PAINT!! Get a decent paint job on 'em, and they'll look great!
Although an analogue clock would be ace.

Mine's should look great once they have handles and paint!
This is what the British Sappers at the Il Giogo Pass game are going to have to contend with
They will have to dissarm them by carefully unscrewing the "fuse" cap and then reach inside to make them safe.
As well as pressure activation, there are a number of other ways they can be set off!
They use Mk3 electric maroons for the Pyro, loud enough but perfectly safe.

I love it Brits having to deal with Teller minen
Did you make them Bosh? If so how dimensions and out of what if you would like to share, I would like to knock a couple up then make the box for them to go inside, you can never have enough stuff like this at an event

Apologies to kalashnikov_kid for hi-jacking his thread
I did indeed make them Gordon. They are based on Tellermine 35's and are pretty much to the correct dimensions. They are made from five 12mm thick MDF discs, 320mm in diameter (top disk is 300mm, the bottom disc is 310mm.
The "fuse" is a plastic pipe fitting. Inside there are some simple electronics powered by a 9v battery. I won't go into too much detail on how they actually work as I don't want to spoil the fun for the (un)lucky Brits who will be trying to defuse them.
Steady nerves and steady hands will be required.
There will also be a scattering of my 12gauge blank firing Schumine's to look out for
We had a lot of fun with them at Operation Alsos.

Boshman, if you're prepared to make them to sell, I'll take a couple right now! Those things are sweet as a nut. Very well done.

He already did!
So far, I've heard nothing but good reports from those that bought them and use them. I think some were even used at Gunman's 'Operation Shingle'.

Indeed I did. This is the original thread:

Glad to hear that everyone is happy with them
Yes, I believe the FJR2 boys had some fun with theirs at Op Shingle
As for making more? they were a hell of a lot of work and effort. I do still have all the templates and jigs so more can be made. It's something which needs to be done in a decent sized batch to be worthwhile, trouble is lately I just don't have the time to dedicate to it. And for the work involved I'd need to charge a fair bit more, I barely covered tool and material costs with the last batch.

If you do another run of those mines Boshman, give me a shout I may be able to get a much better price for the poacher traps through the ranges for you. Also they are worth double the pice you charged last time, the plastic claymores are £50 a throw and in comparison and actulal use yours are much better.

Bosnian, what sort of numbers would you need to do to make it economical for you? I may be able to take a 'few' to make it worth while doing, cost dependant. PM me if needs be. Ta.
