Im reluctant about these flooding the market. Just think they will become the M4 of the axis arsenal. Everyone will have one. We'll see once the hype settles down.
Yip !!
I've been saying this for a long time, that's because i have 2 mp44,s
I like the idea of them being scarce.
Tired ?? come and i will put you too sleep BANG BANG

You mean a bit like the Thompson is to the allies...
I agree that I don't want them to become too common though. I'm mainly after one for open days and will only use it in WW2 if it fits in the scenario. There may be a bit of a glut of them to begin with but as soon as the weather warms up I'm sure the Tanakas will be back out to play.
I'm waiting until all you eager beavers have paid top dollar for the early ones, reviewed them and sussed the flaws before I get one, or not!

Yeah the thompson is everywhere on the allies side but thats due to availability of weapons, you'd see alot more Garands if they were widely available. I get the impression from reading things and pictures that the MP44 was a late war thing, so distribution wasn't great.
So it would be very strange to see a whole axis side weilding them. Be interested to see how this holds up against the AGM MP40.
Will it have a faster rate of fire?
Yes as the name suggests it was a later war weapon but was in development from 1942. Starting with the MK42 which was developed into the MP43 & then finally the MP44 - which was then renamed the StG44 (SturmGewehr 44- assault rifle 44). Pre '44 they would be quite rare, especially in the west but later on they did see quite alot of action- over 400,000 were produced by the end of the war. They weren't issued piecemeal like SMGs but en masse so it wouldn't be wrong to have entire units largely equipped with them late war.
I have no idea what internals they're using; I'm hoping AGM have learnt from the MP40 and make the MP44 to (at least) the same standard as the lastest models of that. I imagine the MP44 will have a sightly lower rof due to having a longer piston stroke but as a result of that and the longer barrel a higher fps. However I am of course guessing!

That said, I believe many Volksgrenadier units were issued with them, in the hope that increasing their rate of fire (over the K98) would make up for their generally poor quality troops.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Yes that was what I was refering to. They were mostly issued to either the best units, who could make good use of them or the worst units ,who needed the firepower.
Real shame its not Cyma or JG making this.
I am rather wary of AGM.
But I still want one!
Well the AGM M14 is superb, at least as good if not better than the TM. The MP40 is brilliant and p*sses all over the TOP so the MP44? I expect it to be a superb piece of kit.
Now... where's the bl**dy Sten, China?
I will certainly be getting one of these, but like some have said it will be used at open days, and only used at ww2 games when appropriate. Have always loved the Stg44, probably from playing the medal of honour series when i was younger. Have wanted one but just didnt have the money spare for those available.
The real wood ones will look great at 1940's days.
From the pics it looks like agm have done a great job on the looks, only mistake i can see is the selector switch position, should cut into the pistol grip, but its not there. That said it does look beautiful.
Looks nice. I'm not sure about the finish though, looks too black. Might have to get the wire wool out me thinks.
Do we think that stock is plastic?
Free speech is expensive these days!
Well, it certainly looks plastic. It may be a pic of the plastic version - if it is the real wood one then mine will be stripped and restained/varnished ASAP!
looks great, it is definately screaming out for some weathering though.
When are these supposed to hit the market???? Always liked the thought of a very late war, battle for Berlin kind of impression.

Like this you mean

Very nice oddball. How did you achieve that. have you used paint at all or just wire wool????

I'm afraid that MP40 is now in the clutches of the Free French forces
Does look well 'weathered' I must say. Makes my black one look a little 'fake'.
Thanks Jay
thanks for the comments guys.
i will be doing the same to my mp44 when it turns up and will do a guide if needed.
basically all i did was bead blast all the original paint off which results in the metal being a flat grey colour.
then apply some birchwood casey aluminium black, leave for a minute, then wash off with cold water.
continue this until the gun is completely covered, this will make the gun look a very dark brown. i have tried doing several coats but it will not go completely black. then once done lightly rub the high spots with scotch brite (wire wool) to get the desired effect.
the end result i think is loads better than paint.

Ah so there is a bit more to it than just wire wool good info!
A video on the 44 would be good.
I thought the receiver pipe on the MP40 was steel so the aluminium black would not work on that would it?
Or maybe it is aluminium after all.
