Got my accreditation from Josh.
Sent it in to Airsoft Armoury.
Haven't heard a peep since. This is about 4 months ago.

What's the procedure here? Is there a way to find out if AA have put me on the register or if my application ended up in the "round file" because it wasn't accompanied by an order for gunz?

Just order a gun from somewhere, quoting your ukara blackmail number. If push comes to shove, the retailer can check it with Josh. It's worked for me, using my number. Airsoft Scotland and Action Hobbies are particularly good with processing ukara numbers.

Don't have a number. Just a site accreditation that I forwarded on.

Well I just sent the Gunman form off to the retailer. Never heard anything since. Is the Gunman number my UKARA number?

Yes. Your site membership number is 3 letters, then 5 digits - that's the number UKARA will use.
I got an email from UKARA a few weeks after it was done.

As Sgt.Heide says, try ordering and the shop will check. If they don't see a UKARA reg, they'll contact you, but they should still accept your membership as proof of defence.

Don't forget it lapses after 12 months of inactivity . My gut feel is a lot of retailers take the number on face value but who knows .

The "retailer renewal" was removed a while ago. It has to be actively renewed every 12 months by the site you're registered with. The criteria the site uses may vary - my local will renew if you've played there in the last 6 months.

My gut feel is a lot of retailers take the number on face value but who knows .

They can't really afford to do that. It'd only take them selling as a result of not checking 1 bogus claim to lose them their business, and send them to jail.

One little nuance to add to the above. UKARA reg relies on your site having updated its 3rd party insurance renewal. My local site relies on the paintballers who have the head lease on the site and they can sometimes take a couple of weeks to get this done. In the meantime, it leaves the individual with an invalid UKARA. When you buy something in the UK the site insurance renewal date is usually emailed to you with yours, so it is worth making a note of the site's renewal date and check before, if importing something from overseas (or just get AFRA accrediation as well as UKARA, assuming they bother to respond to you).

Not you as well? I sent my application (and payment!) in August and have heard nothing back, in spite of emails and pm's.

Did you send it via post or via the website?
Who did you pm? Both Baggy and I can try and help, being on the executive but have not had any messages from you.
Pm me some details and I'll get to work on sorting it for you.
