The model numbers of the 192x thompsons have always confused me, I'm not even sure your list is completely correct, Dave... I mean there's the 1928A1 as well! 
Throughout the War, the Thompson underwent design changes that would make it faster and cheaper to produce. The first change eliminated the finely machined Lyman rear gun site. It was replaced with a simple stamped “L†shaped battle sight; which would later have protective ears added to prevent the sight from be caught up in a soldiers clothing, belts and slings.
So that photo AZR sent is a WW2 militarised variant before becoming the M1A1 with it's firing mechanism changes.
AS HB says, I want the proper flippy-uppy Lyman sight!
i have took the liberty of telling azr that we all want 1928 receivers as that is what we all ordered and the 1927 just looks like a cheap cop-out.

Hi... I just got an email from AZR including pics of the receivers and a video.
Just thought I'd point out that he seems to have got the rear sight wrong on the one in the video. From the sides it looks correct. But inside he's put a M1A1 style sight rather than the correct flip-up sight...
Its up to you guys whether you want to point it out to him, the flip up sight is quite a bit more complex than the M1A1 one and is more adjustable with a thumb wheel and stuff...

Sorry to slightly hijack this thread...but is 77.50 euro alot for shipping from AZR? they just quoted me this for a garand stock
He calculated shipping for me also, it was something more than 120 E. If you ask me, I think he pays a lot less and the rest of the money goes into his pocket.

I care Yith but not very much.
I would like the Lyman sight in the housing. The machining of such a sight would only add to the cost of the reciever. The M1A1 sight fitted will suffice for skirmishing use.
I might try and source a real Lyman sight in the future as well as modifying the the stock I have to be more like the real Thompson one.
Concur - I don't use sights anyway so it matters not a jot from a functional POV, however it won't be hard to remove the militarised sight and make something non-functional that looks right.
Up to you... I just thought it was strange that my findings prompted no comments at all!
To be honest though he should be told that what he's done is wrong... So he can tell other people who have them made.
My attitude would have been for him to get it right... If he wanted more money for the full lyman then I'd have said I'd want the correct battle sight.
I want the Lyman. If I just wanted a bolt on top, I would have done it myself.
TBH if AZR aren't going to do a proper job then I'll have my money back. This doesn't bode well for the quality of the finished product especially when you consider that it's going to take a fair bit of fettling to fit the right sight AND a complete re-paint... Trust me AZR paint flakes as soon as you look at it. I had to completely re-do my Garand.
So Lyman for the price quoted or mone back Mr AZR.
i have emailed them asking about the sight,just waiting on a reply.
i too would like the lyman sight as it just looks right, although practically it makes no difference as i still close my eyes when firing

Confirmation would be good - it's not clear that the sight that was in the video is what is destined for us even.
BTW, I'm a bit worried about constant jamming of the Thompson - did you see how many rounds he cleared by actioned the cocking knob?
i couldnt even open the sodding video from the link, do what you can guys I will go with whatever you do, got no spare time to worry about this at the mo!

OMG it looks TERRIBLE! The reciever doesn't even look the right shape and sight is SHOCKING.
Please tell me this is an early prototype and I deffo want the Lyman sight. I've never seen a Brit WW2 tommy with a sight like that...
Oh good someone finally has taken note.
I think the receiver is fine though... its just the sight that's wrong.
