Lyman sights are an incredibly complex piece of engineering for one-offs to be made in a backstreet workshop, I can't see how it could be done. I guess the easiest/cheapest way would be to mould a real sight and make a resin or tin cast. It won't be functional but I can't see that matters.

Warren does a 30 cal rear sight cast in bronze which looks a lot like the lyman sight, it's in one piece so the mechanism doesn't move but at least it looks more like the real thing.

The one on my tommy looks right but doesn't work.
Thanks Jay! I'm not sure the M1A1 sight should be adjustable. I know that's how the TM airsoft is but I thought the military sight was a fixed L shape with a peep hole for 250ft range and top notch for 450ft (or was it yards?)

Nice diagram of Lyman parts here

Yes those are the correct two sights for the tommy.
The battle sight is completely fixed, just a bent piece of metal with a hole in it...
The sight he's done at the moment is just a strange mishmash of M1 and M1928...
Anybody heard anything from AZR recently? I expect it will arrive without a Lyman sight now - not happy as buying a real steel one is a non-starter. TBH I'll be glad if the bl**dy thing just fits on my Cyma.
Helluva long six weeks if you ask me...

I took a look at the Lyman sight on the wall hanger Denix a couple of weekends ago. It was a moulded thing that actually looked fine from two feet away, so not difficult to achieve. Maybe if AZR don't come up with a solution then someone enterprising on this forum will make a cheap casting available...

hi guys
just had an email from claude at azr.
Hi There,
Here are the updates on the metal body and wood parts.... When all the parts are painted ill will provide each client with there job orders.
The rear sight is a flip up type.
We are looking to ship out this coming weekend.
Thanks
Claude
Result! Cheers Jay
(I'll gloss over the "a flip up type" and hope for the best
)

Well... I can see I'll be doing a lot of fettling. The foregrip has only a passing resemblance to the real thing!

yes I noticed that... the pistol grip is nice though, so I'm happy!
If I were you Dave, I'd try and find a real foregrip... I got one for mine at Beltring 2007 for £20... including the bolt. The seller had a big stack of them... couldn't tell you who they were though!
That's an idea.
It's odd though - if you are going to go to all the trouble of hand making something it's just as easy to get the thing right as wrong. And if you are going to make a specialist bit of kit then take the trouble to at least spend 30 seconds on the internet to find out what it should be like!

Yeah, its not as though there aren't pictures of the real thing on the net...
Have you thought about commenting on this... after all he has asked for comments!
Those grip were carved out of huge blocks as well, a small rain forest's worth!
Perhaps it might be worth forwarding a photo - I'm not sure it's worth holding up everyone's order but as you say, they ought to know what it should look like.

Yup, that paint is coming off!

Looks okay to me... Interestingly I think I will be repainting my tommy gun soon, the fake parkerisation has all but scratched off after over 2 years of use and it stands out a lot from the plastic. I was going to give the whole thing (bar the wood) a coating in GW Chaos Black primer... should come up nice and matt...
Anyway, how does the foregrip attach, there doesn't seem to be anything in the pics for that and the receiver has a strange silvery hole where something should go!
