Now then lads and lasses.
Thought I'd pop a few pics of my No1 Lee enfield I've just finished. It started life as a budget SMLE set from shoot and scoot. I was very interested to see how these were as the availability of original furniture is both scarce and expensive.
As I've built a No4 and the Italian Carcano m38 I went for the expert level and was pleased with the outcome. There are no instructions but its pretty self-explanatory.
I wanted to use this rifle for ww1 airsoft also so I made it an early model by adding the magazine cut off. I also elongated the breach so I could make and insert the clip guide in the right place and replaced a couple bits you got cast in rubber with real steel.
The nose piece supplied was a broad arrow stamped original and after a wire brushing I hot blued it, almost looks new. I also added a stock tag and original but plate with oiler.
Spent a bit of time with the wood, and I must say having the fore end and the butt supplied as one piece of wood made things very easy. I etched a few production marks and sprayed and polished and looks pretty convincing.

Looks amazing! I hope to attempt an SMLE in the near future, as I'm going to be finally sorting AFRA registration out in the new year.

Yours has definitely set the benchmark, nice work. :good:

i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all

Bloody hell, I forgot to update you guys, did on other platforms, bar the most important ! Typical.
It was the adventure of a life time, thanks so much for the support. The walk was grueling but bearable. However the lack of food was very tough for a foody like myself, never been so hungry to be honest. I did however manage to forage some apples and mushrooms though, and barter for a single loaf of bread in San Giron. The history and the scenery made the tough times easier and fun was had by all, even the electric storm we came down into in Spain which made the others modern poles sing!

A couple photos
