Please please don't buy it. I had one and it's rubbish. Save your money for a tanaka. it bleds air. the shell system does'nt work, i'm pissed but reallly it's awful. I have a tanaka and even though it £400 note it's worth every penny.

Buy one with a wooden stock........ but only to use a base in which to fit a bar 10

I would love a Tanaka but I'm too tight to pay the £400 to get one. You should be able to make yourself a half decent dboy/Bar 10 springer conversion for about £200. Don't forget there are also lots of upgrades available if you go the bar 10 route.

Thats the thing i would love to do an upgrade like the first page of the springer projects. But i am useless wiht anything to do with tools or converting?

270 fps ...shells to pick up ....do yourself a favour and buy a half decent pistol ..it'll be more effective as a weapon .
DBoys K98s are fun plinkers in the back garden but a waste of space to skirmish with .

Totally agree, I've got a Dboys k98 and it looks nice on the wall, and is also a good prop for posing for photos, other than that it's useless. For that money get an mp40 or save for an mp44. It's a real pity there isnt a half decent commercially made k98 springer for those of us who cant afford a tanaka. I think that in this country even tanaka owners would like a springer for the winter months.

what about the dboys gas version is it still the same or better?

seriously, i love skirmishing my dboys, i really do, getting a kill with one is a real achevment

the barrel length (the internal 6mm one is about 8 inches, with 4 to 5 inches of 8mm barrel in front of it
it leaks air, some shells can be funny and give odd performance and its fps with .20 bb is 260 to 280 (it depends on the shell,its part of the barrel, and there all different)

with .30 bb fps drops to 190/200 fps but it does shoot a bit straighter

with .12 bb it shoots nice and far, but if your aiming for anything smaller than old uns arse (ie barn door size) you will miss

the good things i like are ,propper shell ejection, it takes a bayonet, you can load and cycle real inert 7.92mm rounds, real mag capacity, real reloads,and REAL JAMS (hairy as hell trying to clear a jammed shell in a firefight)

I have to say i experienced a madly grinning porta with a fist full of shells whilst holding a island mg nest at the CIA x site game.

There i was burning though bbs with my plastic mg42/ak47 hybrid keeping the americans heads down. When i had to stop to put a new mag in or sort out a problem up would pop porta from behind the nest with his dboys. Darn me if they didnt duck again...... why you ask well they can't tell the difference between that and the £400 jobbies. At least thats what porta said personally i think it was his grin.

I have 2 dboys as i think they make excellent props. i would however be happy to skirmish with one if i could be botherd to carry a metal detector to find the shells after.

Nice video porta. have you changed the wood work on your K98??? Looks a lot better than the one I had in. Yours also seems to cycle a hell of a lot easier, mine was a bitch to load especially if you had it raised to your shoulder in the firing position.

i think i got lucky with mine, a few people had issues on the bolt action, then again im used to bolt actions on the real steel ,and a hard forwards push is needed with a full mag on some of the bigger calibres
