Also, look for Star Wars DLT-19 builds. They're basically MG34s.

EDIT:- link fixed.

?????? Measure the length of the drawing - Then divide 48 by that figure (so say it's 4.8inches in length on the drawing - 48/4.8 = 10 therefore it's 1:10 scale) Or size the drawing up so that the length of the MG on the drawing is 12inches...... which would make it 1:4 scale.

If you are having diffs at this rudimentary stage it's gonna be a long slog.

Why does the rest of the world get arsey and to the "Don't smartass me" routine???? (Present company excepted) Americans also jump on their high horses PDQ when British bluntness is exercised? The rest of the world really doesn't understand our irony does it?

Good luck with your MG34.

Might I offer that if you think that is rude you have some shocks awaiting you in later life? :giggle:
I think the comment was reasonable after he had provided the diagram asked for and was then faced with a rather, I thought at the time, hilarious question from someone hoping to scratch build an MG.
I dont think it matters where you come from, if you cant read and scale from a drawing you are going to struggle with the build.
I'm working now on a crew of 40, one of only 3 brits, the rest are mostly American.
Some, 3 or 4, do have a very limited view of the world considering how well traveled they are compared to many of their countrymen. It is very America Centric, hard to get past Nascar and handguns. The rest are open minded and switched on. A couple are very clued up, one wanting to discuss Dickens in depth. I'm not a great Dickens fan, Philip K. Dick is more my bag....

Well, being a jr. member here I almost hesitate to jump into this, but having been born in a British Territory, and raised in America I take exception to your using us Americans as your "bad" example. Kinda like using Poles as an example of dumb, Mexicans as lazy, Germans as.... Jews as.... Get the point? Just as the fellow you were castigating did not understand your basic measurements you fail to see the difference between "British Blunt" and just plain rude. You were rude. Now flame away.

:ghey: OOOoooOOoooooo..... No flames - but you do bear out and re-inforce the internet stereotype that Americans are very tetchy and immediately leap in to challenge, defend and defeat perceived attacks at the slightest whiff of anything that does not smack of being pro-US - perhaps that also accounts for your foreign policy?
Of course I'm rude...... I'm from Yorkshire........ and your problem is?

Always boils down to politics in the end. But not here - In words of one syllable (well perhaps I can extend some to two) Kamerad Bugman seems to want all the work doing for him in advance and this, to me, personal opinion and all that - smacks of laziness. The real world is not all sweetness and light and sometimes people need a litle reminder of this. Anyone with a bit of salt would have taken the drawing (which was what was requested) that two of us supplied and done as suggested - Taken a datum (one known dimension) and extrapolated all the others from it - After all that's half the fun of a project - research, learning, application of one's skills.

Yet again another example of Septics making a mountain out of a molehill.....
PS - I said "Present Company Excepted" which meant that not ALL Yanks jump - selective reading perhaps?

OK, I think we'll leave it at that, gentlemen.

Bugman, you have your plans, supplied by a straight-talking Brit. I think his initial comments were actually extremely polite - you will struggle if you can't work off a scale plan.

However, I'm sure you will be able to find someone with a workshop who will be able to help you - it will cost, mind you. Good luck.
