Finally finished my SMLE (well nearly-still a couple of cosmetic details to add)
based on a KJ Works gas M700, to be honest this was quite an easy project, the hardest bit being trying to get a colour match with ancient oil impregnated wood.Numerous advantages over VSR/BAR conversion ,namely ,the mag is in the right place ,the trigger guard virtually fits straight into the woodwork with some minor dremmelling,no more worn out sears after one skirmish, and the whole gun is cheaper than a zero trigger.-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

It would , but then the problem is the mag catch ,I decided to stay with the standard M700 trigger guard and magwell, so I bolted a thin bracket to the rear of m700 and the smle mag ,put a rubber block inside the smle one ,and epoxyed the 2 together.

Tried it out on Sunday at an open day, with Ultra gas and .20 bbs I can hit a target at (a paced) 50 metres, action is lovely light and smooth, and it takes all the available m700 gas magazine variations e.g Tanaka,KJW,Bell.-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

I think Sandy would have a queue round the block if he took orders!

Cracking Job Sandy! :good:

“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942

Well done Sandy! I knew it could be done. :good:

Much easier than a springer actually, the trigger mechanism is much slimmer and almost fits the cutout, a bit of gentle dremmelling is all you need , likewise the wood at the front of the action just needs opening out a little, and the same with the trigger guard/magwell,the smle one is actually wider to the rear and a bit of filling is needed to tidy it up.The front action bolt lines up with the existing hole, and the rear trigger guard and action bolt goes through the stock, again with a bit of gentle chiselwork and dremmel work.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Fantastic workmanship there Stof, may I ask how you got over joining the stocks? Is that a chunk of metal that you fabricated?

That is very good of you, I think you'll find our site will suit it well. I'm really interested as I've got a Tanaka M700 currently in a Remington walnut stock but it's mainly a wall hanger and your Smle looks like a good use of it.

It's really quite an easy conversion, which I'm sure somebody more skilled than me could do better, you should be able to do it and be able to put it back in the remington stock whenever the scenario warranted it.
