Hi I am in the throws of thinking about converting a M14 into a reasonable G43 look a like. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a reasonable Modern scope which could be attached which would pass as a look a like. They seem to be quite small in relation to most scopes and need to sit near the rear of the weapon.

Good luck with the conversion if you go ahead. A few have tried and not succeeded, but the G43 is one of my favourite weapons.

My personal opinion is that unless you have a gun firing at near 500fps, a scope is pretty useless in airsoft. I have used scopes on an M14 (when I did modern airsoft) and also on a K98, and I didn't see the point.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

I love my Tanaka K98k with iron sights. I've owned two of the ZF-41 scopes from Tanaka - had a G33/40 as well. But those scopes are pants.

The point is that it's part of "the look" of the gun that he wants to reproduce.

I've been looking along similar lines at No32 scopes for the Lee Enfield, and have decided on a long-term project to make one.

To begin with, you might want to try a tube with plain "lenses" (no magnification) until you find something suitable.
Then, something like an air pistol scope might work for you.

Cheers I think first up its all about the look. I am intending to up the FPS with a new spring to about 425 and then lock it down to fire single shot.

Not aware of many sites that allow semi above 400fps!

There's also a "swept back" scope mount for the G43. There are repro's available of that on Ebay.

On the subject of M14 fps, mine clocks about 340fps (with .2's)and has fantastic range and accuracy. Using madbull .25g "match grade" ammo, it hits every shot at 50 metres and 8/10 at 60 metres. That outranges pretty much any other aeg. It's also got significant advantages over high fps bolt actions, ie, no MED, higher rate of fire, easier mag changes, and less ball aches with gas, temperature, broken sears, etc.

OK the Fps seems high on your Sgt Heide I have been quoted 320 + - 5%. (MY site Ground Zero will allow 500 Fps for single shot!!)

If this is the case then leave it at the standard rate anyway Hopeless great scope but who makes it what type is it????

Well, Chinese M14's can vary a bit! I put metal bushings, a bearing spring guide and a new barrel/hop rubber in mine too.

500fps for single shot usually only applies to "proper" single shot weapons in my experience, ie, bolt actions, with a low rate of fire. Just imagine the pain if someone could wallop out several "single" shots into you at 500fps in a couple of seconds!

What about this Hk?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Black-2x20-Telesc ... 5637ba5a58

Being a pistol scope you can mount it half way down and still get good eye relief. How you fix it to a rifle, is another question!

ok looking scope - as for mounts, well it's a pain that receivers are monkey metal, but tap-and-die could work. there are various mauser type mounts etc that look the part.

ZB, that may or may not work for Hänschen, but it's EXACTLY what I've been looking for!

I've been looking around and there is this option
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAUSER-K98-SCOPE- ... 2ea940cea4
If you have a Mauser type sliding adjuster. Then the question rears its head as to feasability. I think if you had a Tanaka, it would be a hanging offence to mount a picatinny rail but if you're just looking as a means to an end, then this might help.
