Hi all,

So I purchased a G&G K98 last year, and to be honest, it was naff straight out of the box.

I had a leaky mag (since been replaced and seems ok), and whenever I fired with the 2nd mag that came with it BBs would nose dive downward straight out of the barrel, even after adjusting the hop. It was so bad I sent it back to Zero One for repairs.

They 'repaired' it and sent it back. Now it seems a lot better but still miles off from being perfect. BBs now (Using 0.30g BBs) are still all over the shop. Some will fly off to the right, some to the left, others will drop down or fly up, even when I think I have got the hop about 1 in 10 shots seems to be perfect.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestion as to what I could try to make it more reliable?

Has anyone had any problems with theirs?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Chris

It sounds like a bad hop-up, sending BBs bouncing down the sides of the bore instead of spitting them straight. I have no idea how easy it is to get to the bucking but the 'ideal' replacement would be what's probably already in there, a G&G Green Bucking. Maybe the one in there is a Friday-afternoon job.

Could also be a barrel that's not perfectly true.

Just out of curiosity, how long did they have your rifle back under warranty? They've had my Ppsh for nearly two weeks now and when I spoke to them on Friday (they'd had it in their hands for 10 days at that point) they'd still not even looked at it. Bearing in mind I've spent over £2000 with them since November.

I think it is something that I might have to look into, I feel that if I send it back then it might come back in the same state as it currently is in.

They had mine about 2/3 or so weeks, (Warranty is a year I think?) but I wasn't really in any rush at the time. They had a friends SRC MP40 though for nearly 4 months. They returned it mid august, just before the GZ weekender. Didn't get it back until mid december, I heard that there were a lot of issues with SRCs UK contacts and zero one wouldn't allow a refund when he was just sick and tired of waiting.

Same with my SRC MP41, sent it back for 'repairs' and when it came back, it had lost single shot (They hadn't replaced some parts correctly) and now when I used it feels like it's going to fail at any moment. But they weren't interested in looking at it again.....

Back to the subject, G&G Kar98, I found that the two mags that came with it are alright, the two I brought are leaking to all hell and then the Co2 mags I then ordered which also leak...... accuracy seems alright though.

Re leaky mags; there is a small blue silicon seal that presses on the CO2 bulb nozzle - this can be dislodged and fall out unnoticed, leading to immediate venting of bulb when the cap is screwed in, or gradual leaking over time. I always put a drop of silicon oil on the seal so that is doesn't stick on the bulb when it is removed. Also, the floating domed head that interfaces the mag and gun nozzle can stick at odd angles and not seal properly - silicon oil should fix that (could lead to loss of power and dropping bbs).

Get someone to chrono 10 shots ,they should be stable within 10 or 15 fps to get ok accuracy.
Some times in guns the barrel and rubber are loose in the hop chamber and can rotate to one side,
making the rubber contact the bb of centre and then the axis of spin will make the shot veer to one side,
or the barrel can slide gradually away from the nozzle, going towards the muzzle end, destroying air seal, and giving fps loss or variance.
A bit if builders silicon under the hop rubber, well away from the hop window, and ptfe tape wrap
around the rubber before sliding it in to the hop chamber will tighten it up.
Check there are no burrs on the hop window,I have a 6mm reamer for this,
If you can try another barrel, or try installing components from another gun if only temporarily to try
and isolate the problem part.

My PPS had a similar problem with inconsistent accuracy and it was a torn hop rubber. I'd do what others have suggested and give it a tear down and good clean and check.

Yeah, sounds very worrying. Whenever I ring them the tone of antipathy is very evident. Low morale/bad pay maybe. And non-existent advice, even when they could be making money from it. Plus bad advice (suggesting crap batteries (NiMH) when they should be suggesting lipos. Amongst other things.
I'll give them another call today and if action isn't evident I'll tell them to send the gun back with the replacement parts and I'll do the work myself. And never purchase from them again.

Well, they've already got it open and are working on it (confirmed what I thought had broken, a gear went south). They say it'll be done today or tomorrow so all is well (for me at least).
