Nice find :good: Very tempting. It will be interesting when this and the G&G can be compared side by side and feature to feature.

Hmmm "one piece wood"?

There should be three bits surely? ;)

I think they mean that each part is carved from a single piece, not laminated or joined.

Looks like they have made an effort with the trigger guard to make it more Garand like, but still not quite right?

Fox Airsoft got in touch today and linked to their video from the SHOT show:

Another small little clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... R_Kwhr9wNk

To ping or not to ping? That is the question.

Edit: Removed the extra o's, pesky critters.

Has the whole world forgotten how to write? They now only make youtube videos.

Nothing (well, today at any rate) annoys me more than bloody youtube reviews of things. I think the one unifying characteristic of the Youtube review video makers is that none of them are professional presenters. There is a reason for this, and I don't understand their desire to constantly inflict this reason on us. specifically me.

Anyway I have watched em (well most of 'em, I got bored - go figure) and I dunno what could be so exciting (literally, but I am thinking like and excited person, you know, as an exercise).

Could be the ping? - a bit pointless

a ping and a 'throw your mag away leaving you hunting on the floor'? - Probably the most annoying thing they could do

Top loading? - of all the potential 'fancy jazz' they feel some form of duty to pull, that would be the least annoying - kind of fun.

Lighten up buddy :good: I was cramming in a cheeky post whilst searching for material suppliers at work. All fixed for you though, keep those stress levels down.

It's a curiosity thing. If they have made it ejecting, that's quite an interesting achievement design wise. Top loading would of course be ideal from a skirmishers point of view, but some people do like those extra realism touches (I believe you wrote an extended post on the subject in The Kit Pic thread recently). Charge for example, or Seraphim2150 as he insists on calling himself for reason unknown, really enjoys the Marushin M1 Garand's "Ping".

I will agree most of the presenters from Shotshow are terrible. Doctor Airsoft is probably my personal pet peeve.

Heh, touché Owen - at least I didn't have to read your post twice to make sense of it (loved Craig's own mis-typing too  ). We are all hypocritical in our own way and all seek to justify our own hypocrisies and foibles! Youtubes can be useful and irritating - at the same time. The fast forward function is a great tool.

my comment was on the videos, not the writing on here. I would rather read a 2 paragraph long blog of typos then watch a 5 minute pointless video is all.

Odd's on that with the M1 being based on their existing m14 platform the "Secret Feature" will not be top loading (anyone who's worked on a G&G M14 will know why), I think it's infinitely more likely that it will be a pointless electric blow-back feature, perhaps with an 8 round lock-back as mentioned in the video.

Still, it's looking lovely and in my view far superior of the ICS offering (at least in accuracy to the real firearm).

Neatly demonstrating both the written word and moving pictures can have weaknesses

They both look OK to my uneducated eyes - could you point out the failings/strengths of each?

...really enjoys the Marushin M1 Garand's "Ping".

The Marushin certainly has the grin factor and a ping on a G&G would be fun. Would a reasonable magazine capacity (to save faffing) with a mosfet lock on 8 rounds that requires a pull on the charging handle to reset (the pull actuating a mechanical ping from catching a bit of spring steel) - be both practical for skirmishing and fun to use?

I have edited it for some clarity, lest I am thought of as too rude. :D

For people looking over seas at prices. Or comparing.

The Hong Kong Sites are all around $450 without shipping. Add shipping, parcel force handling fees and other importing fees makes it not viable to buy one.

How ever

Evike have theres on preorder for $400 (£253) without P&P. When adding on all the associated fees it will most likely come to £350 so only a saving of £50 ish quid. (once you have paid Josh or firesupport to ship it out to you.)

So currently 3 Choices really.

Josh's one works out cheapest in UK if picked up at his game.

Order the cheapest one from Evike (although customer service is shoddy!) Have to send back to America for repairs if still in Waraanty etc.

Fire support almost the same price as Josh (although after P&P its not) If anything goes wrong you can send it back to a UK address.

But if you head on over to the G&G Garand thread there is being pre ordered at under $400! So all to play for.

Stu

I notice that the ones on fire support have been down grade to 300fps. With an option to upgrade to 390 fps + the cost of the m120 spring. Of course this will set you back £20. So £405 + postage. Ouch. My tanaka kar 98 cost less than that.
Also unless they have changed it,the barrel and gas return tube have a gap between them. Garands barrel and gas tube were flush. God knows why they would make it that way, it's clearly wrong and its not like there aren't many left to actually look at. I would like to see one in the flesh before I commit. I'm not paying close to 400 sheets for an inaccurate reproduction. Gone are the days I can just buy stuff, knowing its close enough. For that much I want accuracy in the casting at least.
Yours pissedoffedly, P
Oh interestingly the factory standard for one of these is 390 fps, huuunmmm! Draw you own conclusions.
