Not much in the way of details. Is this an airsoft gun? Or are they re-selling the non firing model gun that Shoei is about to release?

Still, for HK$ 0.00 you can't go wrong.

If it's an AGM gun, Steve at Airsoft Scotland will have them in as soon as they're available. I'd wait for him to get the in stock, let a few people buy the first batch then buy the v2 with all the bugs ironed out. Also, although these are ACM, I'd expect the price to be high (£300) for the first batch then drop if AGM sees there's a market for this model. Can't wait to see a few of these in action - it will be good to have an affordable WW2 support weapon at last!

Now China WHERE'S THE BREN?

I honestly dont think £300 is expensive for a support weapon. About four years ago I paid £550 for a top M60 then had to spend about another ton converting the bellows system to piston. If it's sub £350 I'll be a happy bunny :good:

Agreed. Equally, we don't want to get into the M249 situation where everyone and his dog is lugging around a support weapon, and the cost does help with that.

I'm not sure where the misconception about M249's has come from, but I can't say i've seen a vast number at any site. We get perhaps 3-4 out of 50-60 people at our site. The same kind of ratio is true at all the events and away days i've attended.

I think it was the last, or second to last open day i went to, where out of about 50 players, there were well over a dozen.

Agreed about the cumbersome element of the '42 though.

Also, (speaking for PBI and CiA games at least), even if we do see a sudden influx of cheap support weapons, people will soon find out it's not just a spray and pray weapon able to take the mickey out of the ammo limits, as it has to be deployed properly before being fired, which is more difficult than many may think.

There weren't that many when I went recently. The site does put burst-time limits on their use, though. Only allowed 3-second bursts.

Have you seen the video on youtube of the guy firing a real-steel MG42 "from the hip"?

£300? Are you joking? I would be *very* surprised if the AGM MG42 is retailed for less than 400 quid in this country.

Reasons why?

1: Sten is dirt cheap to make compared to an MG42 - cheap mild steel and cheap mazac. Yet the Sten retails for close to 200 quid. Can't see a full-metal MG42 selling for only 50% more than a Sten.
2: Sten uses a modified M14 gearbox. 90% of the work has already been done, and they can nick the gearbox shells from their M14 production line. MG42 Gearbox (which is bloody huge) cannot be used in anything else, ergo, economy of scale does not come into effect.
4: Body of the MG42 requires a *lot* of fabrication in terms of pressing. Fabrication in this way is a hell of a lot more expensive than die casting. And the larger the sheet of steel you need to press, the bigger the kit needs to be to do the job - which means even more cost.
5: It will not be sold cheap by the retailers. Supply and demand will see to that. Retailers know that people will buy these - no matter what price they put on them. The demand is there, so they will be looking to make the biggest profit they can on them.

this is "F word" amazing, just when the government of my country released a law that banned the use, rent and selling of "violent" toys and video games... I'd love to live in a third world commie nation haha. Enjoy those mg42's for me guys

Looks like there may still be a bit of a wait for this guys. The site your sent to from the link is known for advertising things on pre order well before they come out apparently. I've been told the best bet is to wait till you see them appear on RSOV as they tend to get most things on before anyone else. When that happens you know they will be available.

Kermit don't forget not all dealers are out to fleece people just because demand is high. I'll be selling the new A&K M60 MK43 next month for a £100 cheaper than other UK retailors. If I can get these beauties in you can be sure I'll try save you all a bit of cash.

Aye, I know that Chris - its just that over a decade and a half of messing around with these things, and having dealt with damn near every mainstream Airsoft retailer in the UK at one time or another has taught me that some will take advantage of the situation. Same in every game really - i'm sure we could both name a few retailers that ask truly silly money for Sturm stuff

[memory lane]Ah, I remember the time when I saw a Marui MP5 selling in a shop for £320 quid.....[/memory lane]

**edit**

More details posted up at http://www.ebairsoft.com/mg42-photo-preview-p-2487.html

If you scroll down a bit, there's a note about AGM wanting to set the retail at about 510USD over there. So, to import one you're going to be talking £315 cost, plus about 60 quid to ship it (going from some big stuff i've shipped in the past) Duty at 5%, then VAT at 15% (will probably have gone up to 17.5% again by then - just to make things worse), then the PF handling fee on top = total of around £465 to import one. Needless to say, I fully expect most retailers in the UK to just swap the $ sign for a £ sign. Ouch!

Over £500 is more expensive than an MG53, more than half the cost of an original MG42 but still only a fraction of the cost of a Shoei. I know people that have money sat in the bank waiting for these to hit the shelves.

I hope to hell they haven't copied the Ultima too well, as the feed system really is a piece of shit on the Ultima. Basically, you have a TOP M60'esqe hopper system inside the MG42, with the external drum mag merely being used to top the internal hopper up. It's an awful system, and the first thing I ripped out of my '42.

I hope the A&K M60 (and for that matter the MG42) havn't copied Stars M60 mag feed cos the one I've got has been complete crap - burnt out 2 motors, don't even mention the 4 months it took to get hold of a replacement from Star through Wolf armouries (prior to burning out the second time and me giving up on the warranty and remotoring/rewiring it via a pressure switch myself). :banghead: That said my cheapsoft Chinese guns have proved generally more reliable than my so called "top end" guns in skirmish conditions!!

Surely the ACM MG42 when it appears will be a similar price to the M60? It'll be on my shopping list at some point I expect!
