I have mate. I filled the middle of the dboys bolt handle with putty and hollowed out the middle. I need to find a bolt long enough to feed through the back of the safety housing though- B&Q is a bit rubbish for small stuff like that!

I have just done that. I used the original screw from the VSR which held the trigger guard on. It is exactly the right length and threat to fit the thread in the bolt. Good luck

Hey guys, some great looking conversions there :good:

I thought it might be useful to post up some picture of how I do the bolt handles and bolt ends on my conversions.

Basically I cut the dboys bolt handle, fill it with epoxy putty, drill out the centre of the bolt handle and the centre of the bolt safety housing to the same size as the VSR bolt end. then slide them both on and use a washer (I use part of a standard popper stud as it is a perfect fit) and the original hex bolt to fix them on. then I tap a hole in the bottom of the bolt safelty housing and the bolt end so it lines up with the keyway on the VSR bolt end and use a grub screw. this fixes the bolt end to the safety housing and stops the saftey housing from rotating. then the end core of the bolt end is cut down and held in as per normal with the grub screw on the top. This system means that it look 100% like original, and you can easily stip the bolt and adjust the tension on the bolt handle. also the original bolt handle indexing thingy can still be used to hold the handle in the open or closed positions.

Here's some picture which should make it all much clearer!

Remember to use some form of lubricant when tapping the thread. Cutting compound is obviously ideal but I find paraffin works very well or as a last resort, a bit of spit!

Ebay is much cheaper than B&Q mate, even with delivery.

When I was making mine last year I got most of my stuff from Ebay. I got a set of M3 to M10 taps with matching HSS drill bits for less than £20 and they are all still in tact.

If you are talking about the main screw that goes into the rear of the bolt then what you want is either an M5 or an M6 bolt, can't check as I sold mine a while ago.

Well almost there just screw the Butt plate on and wait for the liquid steel to set on the rear sight and it will be done. Not upto Boshman rifle productions but I am happpy with it so I guess that is all that matters. It has been fun  very satifying but often slightly niggly but nothing that cannot be overcome. Bought a dremmel but didn`t really need it a good metal file elbow grease and a sharp chisel is all that is really required. I would say to others give it a go you cannot make any great mistakes if you take your time and there are great people on here to give advice.-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

@Waffmann:

Hi.

I did such an conversion (here, in Germany) and I kept the "legal markings" (neccessary by german laws) on the VSR10 reciever. Therefore my VSR98 has its legal markings.
But honestly, I doubt that it is "really legal" to do such conversions according to german law ;). They "must be done" by a gunsmith, if you want to go the official way.

could you post some pictures? I have seen the Dboys in airsoft panda that includes zf41 maybe buying this and vsr clone in germany might do the trick?

not really 'tinkered' with the internals on sniper rifles, best advice I could give would be to put it away for a week or 2 and forget about it, then tackle it then with a clear head :good:
usually works for me, happened a few times and Ive spotted the problem straight away, usually something stupid Ive missed

Have you upgraded the sears as well? Could you list down your upgrades? These are the steps i take to check for the cause of slam firing:

1) Check if the trigger assembly is securely screwed in place
2) Check if the spring guide stopper is in place and if it's in good condition
3) Check if your sears are in good condition. If they are upgrade sears, check if all your upgrades are compatible with each other.

But, almost always, it's the sears. Trying to find your missing guide ring might help as well.

Im not aware of that piston but check if it has a 45 degree or 90 degree catch, the PDI sears are 45 degree unless you have the v trigger which is 90 degree, also mixing makers isn't advised as there can be compatability issues.

After fine tuning, relubing, and readjusting the scope and hop up for .3bbs, i finally took my bar98k to an all ww2 game. I've been having accuracy issues for a while and it turned out to be a desintegrated king amrs hop rubber then a lemon malformed 9ball hop rubber. I had go back to the stock hop robber then i placed anti blowby rings, and polished the barrel....

It performed amazingly.

You know what i love about ww2 airsoft and airsoft sniping? The extremely satisfying "ping!" as a bb hits a steel helmet. Especially from more than 250 feet.

Yeh mate, having replaced the front one with that modification I mentioned above, the cylinder is rock solid- it hasn't got any play in it at all. So I can now occasionally slide the cylinder forward into battery on occasion, which is something I couldn't even do before I modified it.

the other aproach is to start removeing the upgrade parts one at a time untill it works again, sometimes its wise to add one bit at a time and test because if you add the hole package you dont know whitch bit has caused a problem.
i dont know if this helps but there is a metal guide rod that passes through the spring guide and locates in the back of the bolt and when i made my no4 this rod got out of position and i couldent push the bolt forward again because it was jamming the back of the spring guide ,if its moved too far back into the back of the bolt it could possibly cause the jamming and slam fireing.

well the time has come for me to join the club, ive beens asked to make a k98,yes gordon you know who for  .
now before i laid my hands on one of the dboys k98's i was sure you could do a conversion by putting a mag into the cartridge arear but now i'v got one to play with i can see why its a poor idear, god ive never seen sutch an utter pile of poo in my life,i thought i'd have a little play with the shell ejecing before starting the project, the joy of watching the shells eject is only suparsed by the sense of achievement from getting it to work at all!!
so i take back all ive said about a magazine conversion although i still recon it would be easy, this is going to follow the tried and tested rought leaning heavily on this thread.more to follow when ive got something to show.

progress so far,ive moded the bolt to fit the dboys cockig handle and safety assembly.i made up a new mounting spindle copying the dboys unit with the adition of a length of m5 thread to screw into the vrs bolt, ive also shortened the shaft at the back of the bolt and cut the thread so it meets up with the dboys stuff and ive done the usual sleve inside bolt handle to witch ive also cut a hole so the safety works and a grub screw to secure to the shaft on the vsr bolt and act as a limiter to prevent rotateing the bolt to far.

ive also cut down the trigger guard assembly, modified the bolt houseing to fit the safety assembly, shortened the outer vsr barrel and milled out the stock to fit the vsr components.none of it is secured to anything yet but it all fits inside the stock.

still got to transfer all the detail components from the dboys and shortern the outer barrel oh and secure it all,rub it down and re-stain etc
