I was looking for Garand blueprints and I found out that they are still locked up somewhere in Springfield Armory ![]()
Does anyone know where can I find them, or if anyone could tell me dimensions of stock and other wooden parts.
I have a some free time and I thought it would be nice to make AEG Garand, but nobody in my country owns neither real M1 nor Marushin M1 to help me with building.
Any kind of help is really apreciated. Thank you.
What most people do is take an M14 and replace the front end.
Shoot and Scoot can supply the bits that are needed.
There are a couple of resin cast bits for the wood and a couple of brass cast bits for the metal work.
It is possible to replace the resin cast bits with real wood garand parts. However don't try this with the stock itself as the garand internals are slightly smaller than the AEG M14 internals.
Many of the Garand's in the following pic are S&S M14 conversions.
Mine certainly is and has the brass bits with real wood front-end.
(I know they're not all garands.)
I have read all the things connected to m14/m1 conversion and decided to buy metal works from warren and to make the wood kit by myself. I have a lot of tools for carving wood so it shouldn't be a problem. I just need the measures for wooden parts so I can build them. I know that people usually change just the front end, it is really good but I find plastic too squeaky and it bugs me so bad ![]()
Okay, well M1 garand stock measurements probably won't help you.
Just base what you do on the M14 stock sizes so it fits round the AEG internals.
As for the front bits, well you will almost be able to guess once you have the bits from warren.
huh, I never thought about it that way
thanks
There is a company now that do a very nice wooden M14 stock, I'm planning on getting one when I start my Garand conversion in October/December.
