These are some photos of a recent MG34 "look a like" project I've just completed. Its based an a AK74 and any other bits I had around as I only had a limited budget and tools, the "doppel trommel" is an M4 one modded to fit an AK. I've tried to make it as accurate as possible within the constraints of the AK body. Feedback appreciated

Did you buy the bipod? or is it made?
Interested to know if you made the stock as that looks very good.

The bipod is from a Dragunov SVD

how did you make the top receiver? Im starting one soon, using this as the base for it

picked it up for £40,working but the rear stock was snapped off ![]()
Hi, basically I fibreglassed a piece of aluminium strip to the top of the existing AK receiver bent at an angle towards the stock, the top red line, (after trimming the old site down marked in yellow)...

I then glued some square aluminium section, around where the feed hole would be, marked again in red. I then fibreglassed and body fillered the area in blue to make it look like a solid section. This gave me a hinged top cover similar to an MG 34.
I hope that helps ![]()
Cheers

really impressive stuff. Did you have a template to make the stock or was it just guess work. I am interested in making a stock myself but don`t have any real dimensions to go on.

Very nice custom build. Congratulations
I based all the dimensions on the plans from this thread...
