Lt. Morris Schaffer: "Second rate punk," eh?
Major John Smith: Sorry. All I could think of on the spur of the moment.
Lt. Morris Schaffer: Thanks, that makes it even worse.
hi fella
kermit is the man to ask as he owns the ultima mg42. i'm sure he will point you in the right direction.
jay
And I believe NeilBlume has the Shoei - very expensive and hard to get as they only made a limited number.
Thought Neil had the Shoei StG-44, still rare all the same
Yes, you're right it's the '44 he has. Too many G+Ts already . (I dread to think what I'll end up buying on eBay tonight)

Owning one is a labour of love and will require a great deal of expense and expertise. As I understand it niether operate straight out of the box like most guns and require some fettling to get the best from them . Jays beast is indeed one of the most wonderful guns you will ever come across , and can shoot BBs straight through canvass at 100m at an obscene ROF .....however the cost and expertise involved is immense.
Mind you , try to find an air operated MG34 if you want uber realism .
I have a shoei air feed Mg42 that I am still playing with, as it needed a couple of minor mods and to get the set up right (pressure) and importantly reliable feed. I have a custom drum mag on the way from the USA, which has much more than standard capacity than the Shoei box mag (200 BBs) - I hope the bloody thing works. Ultima did produce a Shoei AEG, but that was much more costly than the gas one and they have been out of stock for a long time.
There is a good article on the forum entitled, I think, Tanaka and CO2, which shows how the air feed set up works - the blowback is powerful, really fun and is quite noisey. I suspect an AEG is would be more reliable if you can convert an old Shoei or some other repro MG42 which I have seen somewhere (German website, I think), but doesnt have the blowback. It is a really nice item if you can afford it, it also weighs circa 6.5kg (from memory) which is a lot less than the real thing. I think Sgt Heide maybe up to something on the custom MG42 AEG front.
There are a number of videos on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ur9rjjcR ... re=related
If you have the wedge or arent credit crunched, I think these guys in France have a couple of brand new ones left. They want £845, its a lot, but it is a work of art - http://www.modelguns-worldwide.com/mg42.htm . I cant remember, but the air supply kit will be probably another £150.
hope this helps. Happy to advise further if you need.
as a further note to the above, interestingly den trinity are claiming stock on the latter day Mg42, the MG3, but with the droopy plastic MG3 drum mag included. Dont know if you can get it without that. I have seen a US site selling the proper ultima MG42 drum mags at $295, but dont know if the feed is exactly the same as the ultima MG3 - worth asking. Again very pricey at $2000, so best get a lotto ticket tonight!!
Thank you all for taking the time to reply. I now have food for thought. I had done a bit of investigation but it's good to hear from people that have used or own one. I will now go away and have a ponder! Thanks again.
Rob.
