My mg42 is now sorted, tried range test today, getting about 40-45 metres before the bb's are hitting the ground using .20g bb's on best adjustment on hop, which I don't think is bad, anyone getting better than that? Or is that about right.
This is the stock/ standard hop not changed anything....yet. Will try maple leaf hop and flat nub, and different weight bb's, to see if gets better, but just asking to see what you mg users reckon on range.

Typicaly i would hope for 60 and in some cases 70m (230ft) shootin at 350-360 fps.
From having a go with this AGM gun there is not much hop arm movement when the slider is moved from off to full on.
Before installing my barrels i look down the muzzle end to see if the feed lips even and round, that the nub projection into the barrel is at 12 O'CLOCK,and that it is not too low and will cause a jam,and that it also projects far enough into the bore to give required backspin.Adjust the hop unit while viewing.
Due to a miriad of different barrel dia 's ,hop unit chamber bore sizes, hop rubber thickness and design, nub styles ,the way it all fits together can cause to much or too little of the nub projecting into the bore, about
0.2mm is normal at an estimate.
Often reading American forums, they seem to claim what i believe to be exaggerated accuracy and range distances compared to what people I talk to in the real world can achieve.
You could put some kind of shim bettween hop arm and nub maybe.

I would be very happy with 60 metre range, and if that is about normal I will try to up the range I've got at the moment.I didn't want to mess about changing bits just to find out they all only do an average range.
Will do hop rubber, arm adjust first, then maybe source a tightbore barrel, don't mind spending time and money if I know there can be a result at the end.
Thanks for info
Andy

Basically when I build my Guns I test them on a aluminium plate target, in the shape of a head and shoulders about 20 inches high, set in the ground on a stake. If I set up my sights to hit this at 80ftThe noise confirms a hit,and if it is consistent I am happy, then I aim for a tree in the farmers field over my fence, don't tell him, this is my 160ft marker or 50meters.
Accuracy at this range drops of considerably ,mainly due to wind,if there is a dead calm that's a good time to see if your gun is shooting in a left or right curve.Rotating the barrel in the hop chamber very slightly can cure this sometimes.
To be honest the wind is the main factor when trying to hit targets at max range, you don't always have the light conditions to walk the BB's in by sight, and ammo inconsistency can give considerable side to side Inaccuracy in the last 20m of flight.
For a long time I have searched for a premier BB that did not cost a fortune?Bulldog ammo was good about 5 years ago, zero one own brand could be good to and cheap,Blasters seem to be prominent and defiantly is the best feeding, but the last batch I had was not that accurate.
Then I found Guarder 0.25 and 0.28 and they do perform very well, are actually the claimed 5.95 diameter, and round within 0.1mm..
I have seen tests that show G&G are the best but are pricey so have not tried them. When looking at Ammo tests they seem to be American
Or German videos and 95 % of the brands are totally different,Although supposedly there are only 6 different manufacturers of BB's worldwide.
