With intending to try the german side this year im considering getting another mp40 again. someones already worked out how to mod the current hop or put a AK one in to improve that side but apart from the uzi hicap mod(which is fiddly at best) no ones done much about the mags.
I've yet to take one apart, will buy one soon and have a bash, so was wondering if perhaps theres room in there to say fit a mp5 spring midcap?(93 rnds) or perhaps a mp5 hicap workings?(190rnds). just thought of those as the size is similar.
anyone taken a mp40 mag apart think its doable?
ultimatly I think I'll end up making/buying/building a mp44 but would like to try the mp40 as its so nicely made externally and portable

Duno, I have made 2 hi caps & they mis feed, duno why but the lo caps are fun, with a gearbox strip down, re shim, clean & lube with the right grease you get a nice gun, carry thre FJ mag pouches & you can have lots of mags.... better barrel & hop mod & you laughing,
Steve.D

I was about to post on that subject :
Did use my AGM MP40 at Eagle. Results are so so. The hop up gives no visible results, as it seems. What would you experts recommend to improve (not upgade) efficiency and reliability?
Thanks in advance.

I think I`ve seen someone mention that the TM MAC10 hicap internals might fit into the MP40 mag bodies. I got the measurements off a chap on another forum and it does seem do-able. Unfortunately thats as far as I got because I quite like my locaps and didn`t want to splash out £24.99 on a mac10 hicap mag. ![]()
Zeroone have a good option, unfortunately, I can't link to it for some reason, so type in item code GP310 in their search to find this. Almost double the MP40 capacity and looks like a straight swap for the innards and no
hicap winding mechanism to worry about. I was going to try them myself but got sidetracked by my projects. I also wonder if ump internals would fit?

see this thread guys:
UZI hi-caps are what you use.
I have one hi-cap for my TOP mp40 and it works perfectly, but it is a pain to re-load

that looks like that would be a very good fit Sgt.Heide. could be a very good option.
I really dont want to make uzi hicaps. its fiddly and unreliable and they misfeed like hell. I dont mind changing mags but I like to have a bit more than 50 rnds in them. When I did modern airsoft a 93rnd spring fed mag for my mp5(midcap?) was a good middle ground. so I figured if a mp5 mag or another mgs innards will fit it'll help a bit. plus having to buy and carry 12 mags doesnt appeal. so slimming that to 6 would be great
**EDIT**
UMP may also be a good bet though from memory those mags are quite large

I've had similar thoughts for when I finally get round to getting an Mp40. I have 100rd G&P midcaps for my MP5 and I love them. Having 100rd mags for Mp40s would be idea, no hi-cap crappyness but with enough ammo to keep you happy plus 6 mags is exactly the CiA ammo limit and the perfect fit for one set of mag pouches. Are you listening Mr AGM?
Those M16 SMG mags look like a good solution though, nice find. ![]()
would be good to try it with a mp5 midcap tho as they are alot cheaper than that g&p midcap

What make of MP5 midcap are you using? One of those MAG £7 jobbies from airsoftworld? The cheapest I've seen in the uk are CA100rds which are about £12 (or £55 for 6 at firesupport). The M16 smg one is £15 so its not that big a difference, although with 6 it will add up. Anyway its certainly worth a try; let us know how it works out.
I got a few from ehobbyasia once. think they worked out £6 each or so. also bought some 2nd hand on arnies once. they were £4 each
will let you know how it progresses

Hmmm, never had any mis-feed issues with mine, maybe they dont work as well in the AGM as they do in the TOP? I agree though, a nice 100rd mid-cap would be great.

did you try a mp5 spring mag or winding mag deb?

ah well im planning to try the mp5 spring mag. maybe a bit easier. if not then may try a UMP mag or the 9mm g&p m16 mag

Good shout, Serge.

60 euros. blimey that aint cheap. thats.... about £45 a mag?

That's bloody expensive AND there's postage on top. Just go with the 90 round midcaps. I'll be ordering a few myself over the next few weeks and, if you want to wait and see how I get on with them, I'll let you know. We should all refuse to go down the route of hicaps! ![]()

that mag is next on my attempt list Sgt heh just fancied trying the mp5 ones first. will be cheaper in the long run.

I looked at the costing of getting 4 of those G&P 100 rnd 9mm mags from redwolf in hong kong. costs about £45-50 with postage. so about £11.50-£12.50 a mag posted. not to bad depending on how much zero one charge for postage.
will still look at other ways of doing this cheaper first of all. but this method would work out maybe... £20-25 a mag perhaps total?
just had a look on my local shops site(airsoft warehouse). they have a CA version of that 100rnd 9mm mag for £9.99. may pick one up this weekend to try

Have you made any progress on this idea Rhys? I'm looking to sell my MP5 and would like to know if I should hang on to the mags or not.
