So... bit off-topic, but why does it look like it has two triggers? I've got nothing on Italian shooters. :(

Without ordering from Japan or America (Evike, disabled comments on the MG42 after they said they wouldn't ship out of U.S)

You can grab the MG42 made by S&T / AGM from a polish store. From as little as £458 with free shipping. They also have metal Mp40 / Sten mags for about 6 quid too. Although I have never used the shop but was mentioned to me on another forum.

Has anybody got any experience of the S&T Mg42 yet? I heard on Facebook that the metal is weak and a guy had experienced breakages already. I wouldn't want to shell out the best part of £500 and have it break straight away.

I got the AGM/S&T MG42 some time ago.
The material is aluminium, simple basic aluminium. I already have some bends on the body, where I rubbed my screwdriver against the aluminium while removing bolts. The sights, bipod, feedingtray and drummag are the only parts made of steel and even then, its mild steel of questionable quality.
Taiwangun delivered mine with bent and cracked hooks(talking about the hooks to which the mag is attached). They denied all responsability and I got to spend a lot of money on a new feedingtray. Wanted to field as soon as I could but the repairs delayed everything.

I have heard a few other complaints, like sights going missing easily. I'd say, if you buy it, be careful with it. The externals arent all that great. The gearbox on the other hand seems to be of good quality, certainly for a China made gun. I did notice that its wise to put some tape on the hop up once its set, as it easily shifts back when you run with the gun.

Thanks for the heads up. When they arrive (After HM Customs have finished having battles in the office) I'll strip them and add some threadlock etc. I'll do a mini review too.

Thanks for the appraisal, I see Shoei have released videos of their new model but that's looking to be around the £1300 mark.

Remembered that I actually took photo's of the thing. I hope they arent too big. I no longer have the damaged feedingtray, it was flattened for measuring when we manufactured a new one.
Second photo shows the feedingtray and you can see how there is almost an inch between the right hook and the mag. You can also see the welds(which are supposed to strengthen the thing? They dont!) are cracked.

Another thing that I noticed, not really bad, just slightly annoying; Under normal circumstances its possible to remove the spring and spring guide at the back, by releasing the latch on top of the gearbox. But as the halves of the upper GB are often thightly screwed together, it might not come out at all. In which case you have to remove and open the (upper) GB.
Its not hard if you know how to, if you know how to...
Do tell me when you do a review, Info like this belongs in such a topic.

Well they have arrived.

I wont be doing a review just yet because I couldn't stand the colour of the wood. So I immediately stripped this down and have started the restaining process.

The dark finish looked cheap and very shiny on both of the guns. Sanding down took less than 20 minutes on each butt stock using a sponge sanding block (B&Q).

Tung oil will be added in stages over the next couple of days. Hopefully I will be able to get a nice depth of colour.
