hi all
as im now booked up for the russian game in january i thought i would try and build a russian weapon.
the ppsh41 would be my first choice but trying to replicate the funny shaped barrel shroud would be quite hard,
so have now decided to build the ppd40 which from pics i have seen was still used a fair bit in ww2.
it will be based around a agm m14 gearbox and fed from a real steel drum mag with manual windup internals.
here is what it will hopefully look like.

and here is what i have so far.

I'm sure this will be another amazing custom build from you Jay, looks impressive already. Probably an airsoft first as well, doing a PPD. I look forward to seeing more. :good:

Looking good Jay.

Lardy, it's the first aeg version that I'm aware of but a cheap and dirty one has been done already here - http://ww2aa.proboards.com/index.cgi?bo ... hread=2607. Obviously, not on par with Jays' efforts.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

Very nice. I prefer the PPD over the PPSH. I did consider making one with a VZ61 inside a stock and using the VZ drum mag but lack of funds and the VCR debacle put paid to that. Can`t wait to see the finished article. :good:

I'm amazed at how quickly and how well you do these Jay. Considered taking orders yet? Unfortunately I might bog you down for a few months with them! hehe

Fantastic job Jay851! But where did you get the wood stock? Do you have a real steel weapon you can take measurements of? I see you use aluminium parts mostly, have you tried the Birchwood Casey Aluminium Black? Looks a whole lot better than just black paint I think :)

thanks guys.
no plans for production matt as i enjoy doing one off's and would probably get bored of making several of the same thing...sorry.
plus i do have to do my job while making these, believe it or not :)
the stock is one of the cheaper chinese real wood m14 stocks just hacked up a bit. i do use the aluminium black as i think it gives
a much more realistic finish than paint, but each to their own.

You should hire yourself out to the Chinese Jay, or at least set up as a prototype designer :good:

Are you just going to put another bit of wood in front of the magazine for the rest of the stock like in the picture at the top?

almost done.
still need to do the front wooden forgrip, rear sight leaf and cocking handle. had to spray it as the aluminium black i usually use would not take for some reason.

I had a suspicion that you were making a PPSH as I am planing on doing, I saw you were after a M14 as I have been

Nice job!
