paint + my expensive serge uniform = you hung from a tree...

Please don't do paint at any of our games.
Thanks.
Lasertag gubbins in the PIAT, smoke puff (or similar) attached to the laser receiver. No mess, no fuss. And some of the lasertag circuits on the market allow you to dial the range in. Hell, if you're clever with the electronics, you could make it so that each time its fired it needs to be reloaded with a new round before it can be triggered again.
Like an amateur version of the MILES system really.

Josh uses paintball Bazookas/Panzafausts at his Tuddenham site for both themed and open days. Not had a single incident with paint. Due to the specific use of the weapon and restricted ammo, all of the shots are cautiusly chosen and aimed. Not by instruction (thought Josh does provide very clear guidelings of there use), but mainly from the players own inteligence and deciciveness. Most shots are on target, and the few that miss are always going to land in/on a non live target due the the choice of shot taken but the player.

I concur
not in a bad way but erm yes

Yes its a bit different when your uniform has cost you several hundred pounds to put together...
This has been discussed at length and I know paintball projectiles are not allowed at any PBI game, i'm pretty sure while Yith and I were part of the CiA team we agreed the same for CiA games too.
Unnecessary and has the potential for unpleasantness...
I used to marshall a paintball site over ten years ago and i *still* have paint stains on my m56 webbing.....

I'm sure the use of something like tennis balls was discussed somewhere or its alternatives
maybes in one of oddballs posts about is midget tank

Yeah, getting greasy paint out of NBC suits is bad enough, I would imagine wool is a nightmare!
I wouldn't want to play where paint had been fired, say for example it had been shot at a building or tank,... then suddenly you come under fire, you don't neccessarily react by finding the best cover, usually whats the nearest and that might be a wall covered in paint!

100% agreed webby... ![]()
Can I quote you on that Yith?! heheh ![]()

Yea John, rarely worked though, musta been Twiggy's dodgy wiring! hehe!
Major and I were discussing making an Panzashrek and M1a1 Bazooka into electronically firing ones, to set off charges.
Trick is to symbolise the smoke discharge out of the tube, and make sure people are well out of the way of the bang, otherwise it may be dangerous.

Yea, was good to see you too ![]()
Would also be awesome if there was a 2-3 second delay on the hiss of the signature to the BOOm of the charge going off!

Yeah, the circuit would have to have a resister to restrict the charge, and a capacitor to store the restricted charge until it was time to discharge... unless I missunderstood at uni! hehe

If you want to be clever about it, you can design and build a timer system into it using a 555 IC chip on Veroboard.

PIAT was a spigot mortar. Plus side was, as you say, no backblast, so it could be used inside buildings. The bad side was the crap range, the round falling off the spigot if aimed down too much and having to cock a humungous spring should the previous round fail to push it back all the way.

Just reading Pegasus Bridge again - regarding the PIAT, all men were told - due to the length of time it took to reload - "Never, EVER miss!"

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Er, not the reload time that was a problem - in fact, its far quicker than a 'shreck or bazooka to reload. It's recocking the spring thats a nightmare...

Poor use of words - a layman's "reload" - i.e. how long it takes to get ready to fire again.

I think firing any pyro is illegal.
