I have started making a 30.Cal out of plastic and wood, will put up some pictures as soon as possible.
It is based on the schematics which oddball sells for a very reasonable price  however I've made it out of wood instead of metal.
Still got a few things to sort out, the hinge of the lid and some kind of bipod but I reckon it might be ready for December :good: Fingers crossed.

Just looking for a belt now to run through it!

Well I'm fitting a KART M14 inside it so...that gearbox lol Sorry I can't be more specific.

Just as an update, the MDF I was using was quite thick (10mm) so now I'm planeing it by (5mm) so that it's not quite as wide.

is there any special kind of plastic you use? I'd like to try it just for fun (and to put it in front of my door for jehovah's witnesses)

For the barrel? I used a length of black plastic piping...nothing special. Cut it to the right length then slipped a slightly smaller one in the end of it to make the end of the barrel look right. THEN I drilled 15mm holes in it all the way down. and got some pip insulation and fitted a small piece of it at the end that would fit in to the receiver.
At the other end (the end which things come flying out of :good: ) I got a washer and glued it to a length of copper piping to form the inner barrel. I then fitted the airsoft barrel inside the inner barrel.

No the rest of the body is going to be wood then probably skim over it with some epoxy for a nice smooth surface with no grain, few pieces of metal used for the sight and a plastic pistol grip.

Ordered the belt for it yesterday and should get some rounds for it tomorrow.

If you want a full belt, I would recommend using NATO 7.62 link from a GPMG, theyre a fraction of the prices of .30-06 and not that discimilar in size (7.62 is slightly shorter and narrower)

Is that the rounds or the belt?

I ordered a belt from Saracen Exports the other day, 250 round belt for £20 inc. P&P with the metal feeding clasp still on it. Kinda trumps SOF's 100 round belt for £25 exc. P&P don't it!

Where do you get 7.62 rounds from mate? Do they sell em on SOF?

Drilled and reenforced hole in piece of plastic which the barrel sticks out of. Once it's all fitted together I'll also plug it all up with epoxy to make it extra strong.

There was a guy on the WWII re-enactment forum under Bazooka Chris that sells inert rounds. Very good prices I thought. Last time I spoke to him though he said they were getting harder to get hold of as more and more stuffs been sent out to Iraq and Afganistan.

Also try Ebay, I picked up 250 7.62 casings for pennies. All I had to do was buy the tips and fix them in which was a lot cheaper.

Looking forward to seeing the pics when you post them.

Already got inert rounds, cheaper than that as well £18 for 50 x 30.06 rounds.

Thanks anyway.

Pics coming up mid to late week, sorry for the delay - work, university and hospital got in the way of important drilling and sawing!-- attachment is not available --

It's no where near finished but you get the idea, barrel, side panels and handle done, bottom, top and lid plus sight left to do :good:

I wouldn't go that far but it will be an experience firing it. Just got to figure out a way of either hiding or disguising the M14 mag that will be dropping out of the bottom.

Still I am happy with it so far.
