Due out anytime between now and February apparently, although I`m not holding my breath. VSR based with a 24 round magazine.

At around £140 that's not bad. As long as there's not a massive markup over here it might be worth a go.
Where did you see it being VSR based?

Chap over on the U.S. WW2 forum posted up a while back, he got the info from a dealer in HK I think.
Edit: here you go.... http://ww2aa.proboards.com/thread/12248/exclusive-info-on-k98
We really need more spring WW2 airsoft rifles. Such a missed market, and when they do come out they screw us over with stupid money price tags like the RWA Enfield. When you consider the huge amount of cheep spring bolt actions out there, it really cant be that hard to translate this over to WW2 guns. If PPS can make a nice Wood and metal Gas K98 for £300, then a nice spring K98 should be far cheaper, or at least the same.
can anyone see where these are available?
They are not out yet bud, the only sites where they are showing up as available soon are in the far east.
I did a google with the part number .... STSPG17FW which brings up a few sites.
I imagine someone like Evike in the U.S. would be amongst the first places to get them in stock outside HK.
They are available now at switairsoft

Cheers bud
Edit: works out at about £185 including shipping to the UK ......plus customs charges if it gets stopped. Not too bad.
One of the chaps on the WW2 U.S. forum just ordered four of them so hopefully he`ll pop a review up over there shortly.

Thats a great review, thanks for posting the link. The rifle looks very promising, 390 fps and 24 round mag makes it extremely skirmishable in standard form.

Now all we need is a Lee Enfield
Finally got around to watching the video review.
Proprietary parts so no affordable or easily accessible vsr compatible upgrades, the price seen is for a plastic stock and the standard hop is dropping after 40m?
That's gonna be a firm no from me then. Even if there is going to be a vsr conversion kit by the time you add a wood stock and upgrade the necessary parts you're going to be about £300+ into it.
Pity, it all sounded so promising until at was unveiled.
Looks like uk wholesalers have got them in stock so hopefully some retailers will have them available soon.... http://www.iwholesales.co.uk/211722-st-kar98k-spring-sniper-rifle-faux-wood
It may not be the answer to what people are looking for, but it is a step in the right direction.....much better concept than the kacky dboys shell ejectors.

Its got a good review from a regular ww2 player in the U.S. .... http://ww2aa.proboards.com/thread/12311/spring-k98k-sale-on-evike?page=1&scrollTo=141527
Put more rounds through it today. Mag release and reloading is quite seamless (on parr with a VSR Bar 10 and certainly way better than the S&T Springfield.) For mine .25 or .28 BBs are the perfect BB weight for this gun.
I am reluctant to disassemble it as its shooting so good but I am going to have to if I am going to check out if a real stock will work and how much effort that will require. It has passed my 500 round test. This is a fabulous rifle!
It seems that it`s a copy of the Tanaka springer K98, for the money it would be hard to beat, I suspect it`ll be around £190 in the UK ? For an off the shelf practical K98 which shoots ok out of the box, its been a long time coming.
