Below you will find my approach to make more realistic STEN with respect to overall view.
The work is simple. Some new parts are to be made some modified but overlook seems to be better.
The step by step instruction is there:

Very useful guide, thanks very much for sharing. I had already done the easier mods as soon as I bought my Sten, namely the foresight, changing the screws and removing the plastic muzzle. Your guide may well have me doing some more work to it in the future especially the buttstock mod.

very good ,really makes a big difference ,i particularly like the stock mounting mod it really transforms the worst part of these guns

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
I do have a question regarding the spring cap. I assumed at first that you had used a real STEN spring cap but looking at it again it looks like you made one from aluminium? If that is the case could you give some more details of how you made it please?
Thanks

In fact I made it of brass but it can be any metal.
The original cap would be to expensive to ruin and it would be to long.
See the picture.
The diameter of the button was dependent on the width of the bar in original part. 13 mm (1/2") ID was optimal.

I did do a search for real STEN parts and did find quite a number of places in the US selling spring caps for only $8 or so. Trouble is postage would be more than the item I expect even if I could find a dealer that would accept non US orders.
I'd rather have one made from solid metal stock as you've done but I've no access to a lathe. Perhaps the tubing option is worth looking into, I shall have a think about it.
Thanks again

The problem with importing even not crucial parts from USA concerns not ony you in UK.
If you have an access to soldering torch (propane-butane) you can take 2 different diameter pieces of copper/brass tubes of appropiate length and a copper/brass disc and solder them together. Then the use of file will do the rest.

Have you tried to do the stock mounting mod with the battery in the receiver?
I've been thinking of trying that for a while now. It might need a smaller LiPo than normal, though.

Well, In case of any type of batery in the receiver part behind GB (on the natural line of the main spring) there will be no space for the spring strong enough to push the main spring cap into the butt interlocking hole right. Personally I do not know smaller batteries of enough capacity and voltage to fulfill this task. This is the question of several cm/in but it reamains crucial. It is not the situation as for EBB when springs just are strong/weak enough just to operate recoil/return of light "bolt". Maybe somewhere in trigger housing? But I doubt.
With custom made Mk V it will be much easier. Wooded stock offer plenty of space
The same with silenced Mk VI.
STEN was so simple construction that there is not to much space for the modification, especially concerning AEG where most designs have to follow or to be a derivative of GB construction - mostly the cylinder/piston/gears distances.

I was thinking about it for those of us with skeleton stocks (nowhere for the battery).
"Front-wiring" to the trigger housing might be an option. Or even further forward into a suppressor. But then that would need to be a permanent fixture.

Your idea is great. If you will also change the barrel for tight bore and longer, you will got a sniper silenced STEN.
Just look on the picture. The SOE/CISA silencer is big enough to accommodate a stick battery. And doesnot it matter you have Mk II(S) or Mk VI.

A Crane stock LiPo would fit in a standard one.
It is an idea. The space for batteries of the blue dimensions. If you find proper one, plaese share info.
Sizes are taken from AGM AEG.

There's actually more room than that.
The Crane stock batteries have 2 separate cells wired together:
http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html/vp20c2s1450cs.html
So one cell could go either side of the barrel like this:
Also, if the suppressor supports the inner barrel, that diameter is cut to 8.55mm, leaving even more room.
