So, having a day off of work, easy leisure day, walk dog, tea and toast, a bit of garden tidy, cut some wood for winter fire, thought I might as well fire up the Ppsh, as If I get a uniform together in time I will book on to the next battle day,.
A dozen shots or so, just a whirring noise, thought , slightly flat battery, has been a while since charging, or maybe motor pinion come loose, .........no such luck! Stripped out gearbox from frame, to get a better look and this thing has a blowback bolt so you can see inside when some bits have been removed, there was the piston rear end in tatters!
Still just as well it happened now, and not on the day! So far I have been quite impressed by this S&T Ppsh, been on a few modern type skirmish days and has performed well, this is the first major cockup it's had.
I bought it second hand and the guy before had skirmished with it, had taken off the blow back mechanism and installed a weaker spring, was kicking out about 290 Fps,I re-installed the mechanism, re- sprung to 350 fps, no problems for some months until now, this won't of course put me off of it, I do expect these things to let go once in a while. I would normally take a couple of rifles to a meet anyway, but those meets were not specific to uniforms or weapons.
What other weapons could be used for The Soviet troops if I don't get this sorted in time? I have a sten, Thompson, and an mp 40 in the WW2 era.

Mp-40 was widely used by Soviets, so take it as a secondary.

Stens were never supplied to USSR. Thompsons (mostly M28A1) were shipped inside tanks, as crew weapons, plus small shipments as infantry weapon (Russian soldiers were not impressed by Tommygun). So it was presented in the army in relatively small quantities.

With best regards,

All done, had a rebuild kit for an M4, (from which I've already robbed bits for the mp 40) shs piston all metal teeth ally piston head, down rated spring To M120 (which was in stock for the Sten) now kicking out 340- 346 Fps .
So now site ready too! Dead easy gearbox to do, as it has QD Spring feature. Only takes minutes to change spring, with no special tools, flat screwdriver and Allen keys.
I was happy to find the trigger switch is a micro switch of a common sort :D saves me doing that later. I might yet put a mosfet on , for controlled burst on auto, and to run with lipo battery, soooo much better!
I thought the mp40 would have been my favourite pop gun, seeing as even from childhood I wanted one, but this Ppsh is great best "toy" I've bought for a long time., even made Snow Wolf stick mags fit it, shame there's no mid cap for it, but I might attempt something along those lines later on.
I will post some photo's when I learn how to do that on this site.

Thanks for Pic's ! This good info The mp40 will certainly be the back up for me. Must try and sort the the front end as it has terrible accuracy, have AK 47 hop, and mp5 barrel (6.03) to fit maybe better after that.
