How easy is this to take off? Would I be damaging it by doing it? I like the 'hoodless' look...

It comes off too easily - I nearly lost mine catching it on a branch! It's spring steel - IIRC you need to squeeze it in a little and slide it out.

You can 'tap' them off with a wooden block, just like the Real ones, but your K98 will look - circumcised

They are a damned sight (excuse the pun) easier to get off than they are to get back on again as well.

personally I would keep it as I think it helps with faster target aquisition.
They obviously do come off quite easily on the real-steels too as you see a lot missing in period photos.

“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942

They're about £4 from Landser as well but you do have to pay postage from the US. If you order other stuff as well, they are by far the cheapest for K98 sight hoods.
