i find myself yearning for one of these and have almost pre ordered one on several occasions

BUT.....................

these were only issued in `44 `45 and early war games may not allow their use
also if use is allowed , will EVERY german be using one ?
lets face it, it was either tanaka (for range) , or mp40 (for automatic fire), now you can have range, a high cap, AND auto fire, will the poor mp40`s ever be used again.

for these reasons ive not ordered a stg44 , and as much as id like to , i dont think i ever will :|

whats people thoughts on this???

ill do a small poll to see

I can't see MP44s replacing rifles ase they lack the range and accuracy but there is the danger of them pushing out MP40s. I just hope people are sensible and don't get carried away and use MP44s at every opportunity, even when they're not appropriate.

I have an MP44 on the way but for WW2 I will only use it for games where it is historically correct to do so. I hope the mid caps won't be too long in coming either as I'd rather ditch the Hi-caps for WW2. If the weather & terrain are suitable then my Tanaka will get to play amd if not then I'll have to use something else (as I don't own an MP40). I can't see MP44s replacing rifles ase they lack the range and accuracy but there is the danger of them pushing out MP40s.

well i have pre-ordered one for the simple fact that i like most if not all the axis small arms, and it will be a nice addition to the collection.
it will get its use in games but it will not push the mp40 aside, especially like the game at ucap where the mp40 will be much more user friendly in them tunnels.

Until there is a cheap and usable K98 on the market, I will be using it all the time, however I would make the concession for scenarios earlier than late '43 by using it on semi-auto only. At least that way it will be more like using a bolt action. I won't be buying extra hi-caps for mine, but will wait instead for the arrival of the mid-caps, which AW say are in the pipeline.

Its got to be better than a AK47, I sometimes use an AK, like yanks with M14s I guess, the mp40 just gets hammered with Allies with M14s & thompsons, the STG44 will level the field slightly,

Only in a blatfest. Sure MP40s have their limitations but I've played games where I've got a load of kills with one (against Thompsons and M14s). Strategies need to adapt to what ya got.

Agreed. I'm getting an MP44 because its looks awesome and is one of my favourites, plus its more historically accurate than my M14. Not because I feel we have to even the the playing field. Arming up to match the allies with thompsons kind of feels like things would be moving in the wrong direction to me.

I'll stick with my Kar98 and my Mp40 - both of which I love, can't say the Stg/Mp44 has ever excited me very much ,am I the only one who thinks its ugly ? for me it's too much like just another modern assault rifle, with it and the Thompsons I fear it could turn WW2 games into blatfests like any other.

I can take or leave the arrival of the MP44, especially if mid/locaps come out for it, it's well priced and another WW2 weapon at the end of the day, even if it is butt ugly. If only the Chinese would clone the Tanaka K98 or make a Sten!

As for "arming up" to level the field with the Thompsons, the real onus is on the Thompson owners to not be cocks with them, not on anyone else to lower their game to the blatfest level :ghey: . I'll NEVER use a 450 hicap in my Thompson, because I'm not a cock, simple as (I'm sure it's only a minority of people who ARE cocks with hicaps btw). I also think people should be getting these Chinese guns chrono'ed (Thompsons AND MP44's), in the interests of safety AND out of fellowship for the WW2 community, as some of these guns are a little "warm" for UK sites and noone wants to see or have any arguments over hot guns and the injurues they can cause.

I've had the Shoei MP44 for around a year but have only took it to 3 games.Tend to take it out when theres a lot of US troops,. there a great gun at the right game.i've also orded the new one, but my MP40 will always be my main gun and on large open sites you'll never beat the fun you can have with a K98.

the shoeis are rare beasts dave, and that kept numbers of stg44`s to a realistic level :D

i dont care what people use , as long as their happy, but i wouldnt want to see the M4 - MINIMI syndrome in modern airsoft coming over to the ww2 side

imagine
a full side of germans carrying mg 42`s ,with stg 44`s as backup guns :ghey: makes me shiver just thinking about it :D

Amen to that. I'll be trying to use a bolt action at as many games as possible in future and will only take an aeg as a backup option. I just wish that affordable, practical WW2 bolties/rifles were more common, perhaps then people would naturally move away from automatic weapons.

I would be up for limiting AEGs to lo caps only, max of 60 rounds a mag, the exeption being emplaced weapons & sniper rifles, makes swapping mags & re loading more fun,

+1

I only have an mp40, but to be honest if I had the money for another gun I'd rather have a Kar 98 than the mp44, I already have assault rifles for modern skirimishes.

I have ordered one because i can  ......... I AM THE LAW.

No i like the Mp44, and as much as i like the shoei/ultima ones i couldn't justify the cost, but now i can. :D

I will still use my Tanaka K98 and the Mp40.

I must admit, i don't actually like the MP44, so it'll have no bearing on me using it at all, as far as I'm concerned, the MP40 was the definitive German weapon of WW2, it's the reason i got into ww2 airsoft at all, in fact.

What i am slightly more worried about is the hicap. I hope it won't have a tendency to turn games into a Thompson Vs MP44 blatfest, i was hoping we were moving away from that and into a more realistic/tactical game.

I think people are reading to much in to the mag capacity, its the person with his finger on the trigger... the same person who wanted to get away from open day blat-fests................the same ammo limit...... :good:

To be honest I've never really subscribed to the 'it' not fair' or the 'it's not realistic' arguments. When we first started all this the only accessible WW2 period gun was the TM Thompson. In fact our first game had the most Thompsons ever seen in a single game in the UK! And it was bloody great! Sure, there were the more esoteric, expensive and hand built stuff around for those who could afford it. Otherwise it was make believe M14s, AKs and scrimmed up bolt actions. Hurrah for the Chinese MP40 which gave a ridiculously cheap authentic weapon for Germans, and the knock-off Thompson that brought realistic AEGs to those with smaller pockets as well as the oddity of an ultra cheap K98.

And now the Chinese have delivered something wonderful - a cheap MP44. Bloody fantastic. Rejoice, happy days. Will we see a game full of MP44s. Nah, it just adds to the mix. More choice is good. A couple of year down the line and we might have Stens and Garands, who knows - and that will be great too!

If you really want a realistic game the answer is there already - the cheap Chinese K98. Equip everyone with it - constant reloading, questionable accuracy and safe close range battles. Will it ever happen. Nope!
